Father and the Bride - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The scene opens with Gossip Girl helping Nate find who tried to kill him. However, Chuck is more worried about what’s happened with Blair. Before the accident, she wanted to run away with him. They were about to build their own world, but now she doesn’t even take his calls. So what’s his next move? He is planning to do whatever it takes to find out what she is up to. Nate warns him about the fine line between surveillance and spying, but Chuck is going ahead. As he leaves, Nate texts Gossip Girl: What’s on your mind?

Meanwhile, Blaire is with Princess Beatrice, whom she first thanks for being supportive while she was recovering at the hospital, and then invites her to the bachelorette party. The friend is overjoyed to know she will be attending an American bachelorette party, the likes of which she has seen only in movies. However, Blair confirms it won’t be a wild one, but a rather elegant one which Serena has planned with fashionable food items and classy decor. Beatrice cannot wait for it, even if she knows there won’t be male strippers and penis cakes. Serena and Dan are taking a walk when Dan complains about the fake affair proving too expensive for him. Serena’s got her blog opening at 10 am, and Dan’s got a book release meeting scheduled around afternoon. With all the success coming together, Serena doesn’t see fake anything.

Blair goes to church and confesses to the priest about closing the elevator door on a woman who was approaching it. She did it because it was a long ride, and Blair couldn’t stand her perfume. The priest tells her it is no sin technically, but it’s alright. Then she lets on her troubled feelings about the man she is going to marry. She loves Louis, but there seems to continuously be a devil on her back. It is Chuck Bass obviously, and she doesn’t know what she should do. The priest, whom Blair wants to be her royal adviser, tells her she will find her answers in prayer.
Nate receives Serena’s blog files ready for uploading. However, he is in the middle of something, and calls up Chuck. They share information through a photograph showing a certain Max, who received an envelope full of cash on the night of the accident. He left Empire with it. After talking with Chuck, Nate finds a new email. It’s from Gossip Girl. It says “it’s your turn now.” Nate replies asking what she wants.

Beatrice arrives in the church where Blaire had come for counseling. She wants to know what’s happening, and hears from the priest that Blair will not end up princess. He cannot let her brother’s marriage spoil everything and his position. Beatrice must get Blair so drunk, that she should come out with her real feelings. Besides, she has to get Louis to see the truth about Blair. Serena and Dan arrive at the launch of her blog. Her face is on the taxi ads all over the roads, and Lilly is thrilled to notice that. However, as she poses for the cameras when it’s time for the launch, the blog page reads that it no longer exists. Confusion pervades the air, and Nate receives a mail from Gossip Girl saying Thanks You! When Serena wants to know from him what’s happening, he tells her it was a marketing strategy. The awareness is still not right. Is he sure this is only a marketing strategy? Nate explains marketing said the time wasn’t right, and cabs need to do a few more laps around the city.

Dan meets his publisher, who sounds appreciative, when Dan guesses there might be a ‘but’ coming up. While Dan thinks she might be saying something about his shirt, it’s something else. It is the Serena episode she is worried about. It is more about the Upper East Side touch that might be crucial as far as the readers are concerned. With all the exposure about Dan and Serena in the media, he might be losing out on something. However, Dan is ready to take control of that. He calls up Serena to inform her about his little hiccup. Will Serena consider removing references about them in her column? That will be great for him and the publishing agent. Serena’s column is indefinitely postponed, so it’s great for Dan, but unfortunately not for her. Dan is sorry.

Meanwhile, as Blair and Beatrice go confectionary shopping, she cannot and doesn’t want to stray from the royal path when Beatrice tells her she could try pole dancing while she can. When a customer walks out of the shop where they have queued up, Blair cannot resist turning around, almost to follow the delicious cup. That is when she catches Chuck lurking from one of the nearby stores. She walks up to him and confronts him for following her. However, he is not going to leave unless he finds out why she has turned her back on him, and them. He lets on he has been following her, and knows where all she has been recently. However, Beatrice is quick to grab her away and stop the altercation. Blair now hopes she can cut loose – at least she can keep Chuck away from herself. Beatrice cannot agree more, and wants her to leave that up to her.

Serena wants to talk to Nate about her column, but his secretary tells her he is downstairs at the graphics place, and maybe she could wait outside. However, she is going to wait inside. She gets in the office and plops herself on the chair, but only to find more emails from Gossip Girl! This one openly mentions about putting a hold on Serena’s column, and livid, she checks out the mail in detail. When the secretary comes in, Serena’s not stopping.

Meanwhile, Dan meets his publishers, and they are all ears to him. However, they do not find either of his ideas working. All they want is for him to keep dating Serena because that is getting him more publicity as of now. In the attempt to sell his books, Dan finds himself amidst more chaos.
Nate calls for Serena and lets her know she is fired. She lays into him – was the marketing team not ready, or was it Gossip Girl? She doesn’t just find him to be a liar, but a hypocrite as well. How can he stop trusting his friends and start listening to his enemies. When Nate tells her Gossip Girl knows his cousin Tripp tried to kill him, and she’s got photo, Serena argues as if no gossip page is capable of building stories on fake photos. Before long , she stomps out blaming him for framing his own cousin. After she leaves, Nate’s secretary sends the video of him firing Serena to Gossip Girl. Beatrice is planning the bachelorette party for Blair. Whatever happens, Blair confirms it has to be at a place where Chuck cannot find them.

Beatrice has planned some great fun, but oddly enough for Blair it sounds just perfect. The priest who has made plans with Beatrice, arrives to see Chuck. He informs him about the change in party venue. And explains that his plan is just what is called Divine Intervention. Besides, he is the one with the higher powers. Chuck is taken aback, but is pleased to go with him. The party kicks off, and Blair receives her friends with Beatrice. The friends announce they will play a game, and the team that correctly answers about their exes’ scandals will concede liquor shots to the other side. Just then, Blair remembers Serena is yet to arrive, and she should be informed about the change in location. However, Serena, although she promises to get there soon, is in the middle of something. That is when Tripp arrives at her place, and reveals he checked out Gossip Girl website to find watch she getting fired.

Although he at first claims he is innocent, and had no role in the accident, he soon cracks. Listening to the conversation are Nate and his grandfather. Meanwhile, Blair after getting sloshed reveals she will love Louis, but she has to love Chuck from a distance. Moreover, she is getting out of control and gets arrested causing nuisance and smoking something. When Beatrice calls it off with the priest, it doesn’t end well between the two. Upon knowing that Tripp is guilty after all, Nate feels like rejoicing. When Blair returns from police custody, Chuck lays into her – he is not giving up. Later Dan and Serena stage a breakup for promoting his book. When they get back to their respective places, she announces they should fake more reunions and many more dates! Meanwhile, Blair finds some letters, which could be Louis’ wedding vows – or are they? The episode ends.
