Serena decides she is ready to relinquish the spotlight and sets out to make a reluctant Lola the next "It Girl" of the Upper East Side, starting with modeling at a Kiki de Montparnasse lingerie show. Meanwhile, Chuck reaches out to Blair for advice about his past, and Diana Payne's return to The Spectator starts a power struggle with Nate.
The scene opens, and it’s a brand-new day on the Upper East Side, which means Dorota is strolling into Blair’s bedroom with divorce papers. Blair, looking resplendent, gushes her daydreams about her future: “Now we can walk down Madison Avenue hand-in-hand without worrying about Louis changing his mind!” Flash to Serena with her new BFF, her laptop, emailing Gossip Girl. Ms. vdW is refusing to hand over the GG reins until after she does “one last thing,” which sounds ominous and sinister. Nate has a lot of feelings about Diana's return to The Spectator and is somehow optimistic that she’s not returning with ulterior motives.
