Owen is walking through the ER, which is extremely crowded and messy following the aftermath of the storm and bus crash. The interns are sitting in their locker room, clearly exhausted, and Derek and Meredith are celebrating the birth of their son Bailey with Zola. Owen comes into Meredith's room to tell her and Derek that he wants to arrange an emergency meeting with all the members of the board. Callie storms out of the on-call room, leaving Arizona to stand there alone, and April is by Jackson's bedside telling him that she is still in love with him and would leave Matthew if he asked her to. In the middle of their discussion, Stephanie rushes in to Jackson's bedside, having just heard the news of his injuries. April leaves the room. Bailey is walking through the waiting room when she asks a nurse to page Webber for her, but Webber is still lying in the water in the maintenance room, having been electrocuted...Read the full recap
Richard: (opening voiceover) When you become an intern, there's a ceremony where you get your white coat. Like magic, you're a doctor. My parents came to my white coat ceremony. I can still picture them. So happy, so proud. They say your life flashes before your eyes right before you die. The important moments. The moments that tested you. The moments that made you who you are. I don't know about my life flashing before me. I was thinking about my white coat, and how I'm glad I have it on me right now. It's the moment my life started. Seems fitting it should be on me when it ends.
Meredith: I had a baby, I'm not dead.
Derek: You just had a major abdominal surgery. You're gonna stay right here.
Cristina: Who's Dr. Boswell?
Callie: She's the woman Arizona slept with last night.
Bailey: I'm not going anywhere. Me and this baby got Bailey stuff to discuss, don't we, Mr. Derek Bailey Shepherd? Yes, we do.
Alex: Wait, wait, wait! I'm not doing it in an on-call room. I'm a grown up. With a house.
Jo: Your house has a tree in the middle of it. Wait, wait, wait. Did you have sex with Leah in here? And Heather? Oh god, I don't think I can do this...yeah, I can.
(Alex's pager goes off)
Jo: No! No, no, no! I need this. We're here, we're ready. Let's just do this. No one will die if we don't answer our pages for two minutes, right?
Jo: Crap, now I'm thinking about dead people.
Cristina: Owen and I...I don't even know what to call it. Ended it? Broke up? I feel like I'm gonna die.
Meredith: You always end it, and then you start it again.
Cristina: Yeah, but this is different.
Cristina: Bailey is a good name. But two Bailey's? Don't you think it is going to be confusing?
Meredith: No. Because if I say "Bailey peed on me" I think it is safe to assume I am talking about my son.
Cristina: Very good.
Richard: (closing voiceover) We're all going to die. We don't get much say over how or when. But we do get to decide how we're going to live. So do it. Decide. Is this the life you wan't to live? Is this the person you wan't to love? Is this the best you can be? Can you be stronger? Kinder? More compassionate? Decide. Breathe in. Breathe out, and decide.
