The night of Grey Sloan Memorial’s fundraising gala has finally arrived. While Meredith and Derek are busy getting ready, Avery does his best to assure Hunt that the event will be a tasteful and conservative evening. Cut to a view of the gala room, which resembles something out of a Cirque de Solei show rather than a hospital fundraising event. The party coordinator decided to go with a circus theme made up of clowns, fire-starters, and aerialists as a way to help associate an image of fun with the hospital rather than death...Read the full recap

Trivia: This is the 200th episode of 'Grey's Anatomy.' To celebrate, every cast and crew member was given a cruise by Shonda Rhimes.
Meredith: (opening voiceover) As anyone who's ever had their tonsils out can tell you, surgery isn't cheap. It takes a lot of money to keep a hospital’s doors open, and when the funds run out, it’s on us to get out there and raise some more. Which means, it’s time to put on make up. It’s time to dress up right. It’s time to get things started on The Muppet Show to-- crap, sorry. I've been watching a lot of children’s shows lately, but you get the idea.
Jackson: Nobody's going home, I'm giving 10% of tonight's take to the department that raises the most money. Spread the word.
Meredith: Derek is really good at this kind of thing. I should get started before he does!
Callie: I think he already has.
(Derek is juggling)
Derek: What was that?
Meredith: What was what?
Derek: What was sparkly eye thing?
Meredith: I can't help it if my eyes have a natural sparkle!
Derek: You were flirting!
Meredith: I don't know what you're talking about! Go juggle some balls.
Derek: You just brought a knife to a gun fight.
Cristina: You're a shark.
Shane: I'm not, I swear.
Cristina: Ross, it's a good thing. All great surgeons are sharks. You see what you want. Do whatever it takes to get it like me. Don't ever apologize. Sharks never apologize.
Meredith: I haven't felt this relaxed in months!
Derek: Me neither!
Derek: You. Me. An exam room. And your panties pinned to a bulletin board.
Meredith: The prom! Except you didn't have blood on your suit and I wasn't wearing a sweatshirt.
Derek: I think it's sexy.
Meredith: Now you're doing the sparkly eye thing.
Derek: I have no idea what you're talking about. Is it working?
Derek: What are you doing?
Meredith: Repairing a gastric rupture. It's fun.
Derek: You can't just decide to operate.
Meredith: Derek, you are better at charming the donors than I am. I admit it, you can have it.
Derek: We had a deal.
Meredith: You're more than welcome to come and join me. Come and get a little blood on your hands. I'll even let you hold a retractor.
Derek: Alright, I'm gonna change.
Arizona: Do you think Callie's ever going to forgive me?
April: Probably not. She's telling everyone at the gala you're dead.
Meredith: (closing voiceover) Overture, curtains, lights. This is it, the night of nights. No more rehearsing and nursing a part. We know every part by heart. Tonight what heights we’ll hit, on with the show. This is it!
When the trapeze artist falls and breaks her leg she is shown pushing herself up off the ground. When the camera switches her head is back on the ground and she isn't pushing herself up.
When Richard shoves Bailey in his hospital room she falls face first with her arms out towards the wall. The camera angle changes and she is falling backwards facing away from the wall.
Alex's facial hair changes twice during the episode. It is scruffy at the beginning in the ER, then he is clean shaven while watching Cristina in surgery and a few minutes later it is scruffy again when Jo takes his blood.
Meredith's hair changes multiple times throughout the episode. At the gala her hair is in an elaborate up-do. After surgery as she is getting changed her hair is brushed and down. While walking in the hallway with Derek her hair is in a messy ponytail. Finally, at the end of the episode, Meredith's hair is back in the up-do.
