| This episode got me hooked on Grey's Anatomy
|
!!!!!! This review contains spoilers !!!!!!
What can I say about the "It's the End of the World" episode of Grey's Anatomy? One thing that I have to admit is this: it was this episode that truly got me hooked on this show, thanks in the large part of the intensity of the script.
With that said, what I really enjoyed about the beginning of the episode was Meredith doing her voice-over of George's dream, mainly because you could tell almost right off the bat that it was George, not Meredith that was dreaming about the interns in that particular setting. And it was also pretty comical the way George falls out of bed right when it reaches his no doubt favorite spot. I also thought it was pretty neat the lengths Cristina went to in order to get Meredith out of bed that day.
However, it wasn't until the interns arrived at the hospital that I thought the episode really took off. I really loved the interns’ reactions at seeing Bailey back at the hospital and how she wasn't thrilled at hearing how they scared off their previous residents since she is on maternity leave and how she tells George to get Addison calmly while her water breaks. It was at this point that the intense part began, with Mr. Carlson being brought to the hospital and how his wife was shrieking non-stop at first.
One thing that I thought was somewhat comical was the way Alex got the man’s wife to quiet down to learn what happened. It was at that point the way Alex and ultimately every doctor in the hospital reacted to the code black when Burke realized there was live ammunition inside his patient’s body. I also thought it was really nice the way Derek told the Bomb Squad head that there was no way whatsoever that he would leave Bailey’s husband on the operating table to die, in order to save a hospital, since he both reveres and is scared of Bailey at the same time.
Now, on to some things that I really didn’t like, and the one part that really comes to mind is how Dr. Milton leaves Hannah all by herself, which ultimately causes her to have a panic attack. What type of person would just abandon someone in that type of situation just because he’s family man? I guess he didn’t want to think about the consequences or consider them. Another thing that sticks out in my mind is how after Alex shows some concerns for the situation to go back to his some what dirt-bag self with some snide remarks when Burke has his surgical team vacate the O.R. wing.
However, there were a few parts that I had a few mixed feelings about: when Bailey finds out about her husband’s accident. I didn’t like that part, mainly because of how strong a character she normally is, yet it also shows that even she can have human feelings. Another part was when Izzie propositioned Alex. While I kind of thought it was an inappropriate time for them to get together, her speech to him was funny.
In all, these are just a few of the reasons why I really enjoyed this episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” It has everything a great show should have: great writing and great acting.
