A parks and recreations worker, Ryan Gilko, is downtown in his truck when another truck slams into him. He gets out to investigate and discovers that the driver is covered in a rash. The driver staggers out of his car and attacks the driver when offers to call an ambulance. The driver sprouts quills as he transforms briefly into his Wesen form of a Stangebar, driving off the infected man who staggers through a nearby glass door.
Nick and Hank go to a diner and the Grimm explains to his partner about the Wesen and how he knows them. Hank wonders if he'll be seeing them from now on and Nick admits that he doesn't know but warns him to be ready. He also suggests that Hank wouldn't have seen them in the first place if he didn't have a Grimm for a partner. They get a call to a crime scene and take off.
Juliette is at home and goes through Nick's closet. She is still unable to remember anything about him.
Eddie is at home oiling a picnic basket when he gets a call from Juliette. She asks him how she and Nick were together as a couple and Eddie assures her that they were happy. When Juliette wonders why she can't remember anything, Eddie doesn't have answers and wonders what Nick says. Juliette ignores the question and thanks him for his help.
Hank and Nick arrive at the accident scene and Wu explains that Ryan was attacked by the driver, identified from his license plate as Carl Stanton. Wu and the detectives go into the building, which is closed until later, and discover that Stanton went on a rampage, tearing up the place and leaving his blood everywhere. Nick has Wu call SERT while he and Hank move in. He transforms briefly into a Reinigen and then comes at them, forcing the officers to shoot. Stanton goes down and Nick realizes that the rash and the puncture wounds on the arm aren't part of the transformation. Hank admits that he didn't see the transformation, and Nick explains about Reinigens.
The detectives talk to Ryan, who explains what happened and says that he didn't notice anything odd about Stanton. He goes over to get an accident report from the EMT but suddenly invites her back to his place. The EMT tells him to back off and Ryan walks away.
At the station, Hank confirms that the only drug in Stanton's system was a lot of ibuprofen. They inform Renard that don't know why Stanton was in Washington and they're contacting the next of kin, and he had a bag of over-the-counter pain medication. Wu comes in with a report that Stanton is married and relocated to Portland a month ago to work at a software company. Renard sends them home and Nick tells Hank to head home while he writes it up. As they leave, Renard gets a call from one of his contacts in Europe. The man tells him that the Families have sent a Nuckelavee for they key and he should be in Portland soon. The contact warns that Renard can't give away that he was warned and hangs up when someone approaches.
Nick goes to Eddie's place and tells him that he told Hank everything. Eddie is surprised and somewhat upset, but Nick assures him that he didn't tell Hank about Eddie. However, the Blutbad admits that it might work out for the best. He then tells Nick about Juliette's call and how she hung up on him, and assures Nick that she's trying. Nick thanks him for the information and heads out... and Eddie panics.
At home, Juliette remembers talking to Bud the Eisbieber arriving at her doorstep. Nick comes home and finds her making her favorite drink, and he asks how her day was. Juliette explains that she was busy at work and didn't talk to the doctors, and apologizes for not remembering him. He says that he's sorry he can't help her and she leaves him in the kitchen.
At the station, Renard calls in Franco and tells him to check the airports for an incoming fugitive and provides him with itineraries.
At home, Ryan wakes up with memories of the Reinigen attacking him. As he rinses off in the bathroom, he's unaware of the rash on his neck.
The next day, Rosalee arrives at the apothecary and discover that Adalind's cat has broken out of its carrier and gone on a rampage, tearing up the shop. Rosalee finds it hanging from the ceiling and spots it hanging from the ceiling. It drops and charges at her and she manages to drive it outside. Eddie arrives and Rosalee tells him what happened. He invites her out on a picnic and Rosalee accepts.
Juliette finds the quilt that the Eisbiebers made for Nick and again vaguely remembers Bud.
At the station, Renard is doing research on Kelly Burkhardt's death when Franco comes in with a passenger list. There are three arrivals and two of them are accounted for. The third has disappeared and a cab and his driver went missing thirty minutes after the fugitive landed in Portland.
Hank gets a call from Dr. Harper that she's ready to show them the results of her autopsy of Stanton. Renard comes over and asks about Juliette, and assures Nick that her memory loss is temporary. He tells them about the fugitive and the missing cab driver, and admits that they don't have an ID yet.
Eddie and Rosalee drive out to a park and set up. Ryan pulls up nearby in his truck, covered in the rash, and tries to go to work.
Dr. Harper tells Hank and Nick that Stanton had a hemorrhagic fever but it's not contagious since they're not displaying symptoms. However, she takes blood samples just to be sure. Once they're done, Hank wonders if it's related to the fact that Stanton was a Reinigen and says that they need to get a background on him. As they drive off, the fugitive watches them go and then takes the stolen cab and follows.
Juliette contacts Bud and invites him over. She explains about her memory loss and asks him what he remembers about her and Nick. He tells her that they're the perfect couple and wonders if something is wrong with Nick. The Eisbieber talks about what Nick has done for his kind and mentions that he's a Grimm, and Juliette asks what he means. Bud realizes that he's said too much and claims that it's a nickname for a good cop. Juliette isn't convinced and Bud makes a hasty exit.
When Nick and Hank get back to the station, Wu gives them Stanton's address. Stanton's wife hasn't answered the phone and Nick asks Wu to run out there and let them know if she's there so they can pick her up. Nick tells Hank that he's going to check out his ancestor's diaries and Hank checks on Stanton's history. At the trailer, Nick checks the journals and finds references to fluuvus pestilencia
, which has the same symptoms. Hank calls to tell his partner that Stanton's wife Phyllis is a field researcher who specialized with pigs.
Wu goes to the Stanton home and gets no answer at the door. He goes inside and discovers that someone has torn the place up. Drawing his gun, Wu moves through the house and the infected woman attacks him with a knife. He calls for reinforcements and is forced to shoot.
As Rosalee and Eddie relax, Rosalee admits that she's rushed things in the past with her relationships and refuses to say anything. They start to kiss but an infected Ryan staggers over and transforms into his Stangebar form. He charges at them and Eddie hits him with the picnic basket and then tells Rosalee to run. They get to Eddie's car and lock the doors as Ryan chases after them. They back away and escape.
Hank and Nick arrive at the Stanton house as the police secure the crime scene. Wu explains what happened and the detectives have him wait outside while they check the body. They figure that Ryan may be infected as well. Nick finds a case containing samples and reports on infected pigs, while Hank discovers where Ryan is working. As they head out, they get a report about an assault at the park and Nick admits that he doesn't know what kind of Wesen that Ryan is as they head for the park. Meanwhile, the Nuckelavee continues to follow them.
Rosalee and Eddie return to the apothecary and she comments that he was going to kiss her when they got interrupted. He suggests that they not rush things but Rosalee kisses him... and then kisses him again. As Eddie kisses back, his phone rings and Rosalee says that it could be important. Eddie confirms that it's Nick and takes the call, and Nick explains that they have an outbreak of the plague. He has Eddie ask if there's a cure for it and Rosalee confirms that there is. Eddie warns that with the initial stages of the disease, the libido is increase. He notices a scratch on Rosalee's neck and realizes that she's been infected, but she continues kissing him.
Hank and Nick arrive at the park and Ryan advances on them. He transforms into his Wesen form but then passes out.
When Eddie tries to calm Rosalee down, she insists that she's infected with love. He tries to get her to make the treatment but she starts to weaken. Rosalee finds the book with the cure and confirms that she has all the ingredients. She passes out and Eddie makes her comfortable and then starts making the treatment. As he goes to the shelves, Rosalee mutters that he needs to tie her down before she goes berserk.
As Eddie works, he knocks over a vial and tries to scoop up what he needs. Rosalee goes berserk as Nick and Hank arrive with Ryan. Eddie explains that Rosalee is infected and Hank realizes that Rosalee and Eddie are both Wesen. They hear Rosalee screaming in the back and they discover that she's broken out. Nick tells Eddie to treat Ryan while he goes after Rosalee. Eddie finishes the treatment and Hank handcuffs him so that they can pour the liquid down his throat.
Nick follows Rosalee and tries to get through to her. She turns, transforms, and attacks him with a pair of scissors. Nick manages to disarm her and then knock her out. He takes her back to the apothecary and Hank offers to give Rosalee the cure when Eddie is to shaken to hold it steady. They administer the treatment and wait.
Later, Ryan and Rosalee both recover and Eddie tells Hank that he was the Wesen that Hank saw the day in the park. Rosalee calls for Eddie and he goes in and confirms that she's doing better. She asks if they kissed and Eddie admits that they kissed quite a bit while she was infected. He says that it was just the disease but Rosalee tells him it was more than that.
