Guiding Light: Thursday April 8, 1999

Talking with Harley, Susan insists that she's not jealous of Harley's unborn child. Harley assures her that she'll include Susan in their life. Susan maintains that Phillip doesn't like her or Jim. Harley tries to defend Phillip, noting his tendency towards overprotection and distrust. Susan agrees to give Phillip another chance. Phillip arrives at Josh and Reva's home, angry about Josh's hiring of Jim. Josh claims that Phillip's interfering in the company despite his promise, and Josh resigns. Phillip tries to talk him out of resigning, and Josh agrees to stay only if Phillip backs off. After Phillip leaves, Reva tells Josh she's proud of him. They discuss their upcoming wedding, and Reva says she's sending the kids to Tulsa so they can go away together. Phillip goes home and talks to Harley about the discussion. He accepts responsibility for Josh's anger, but blames Jim for the problems. Susan enters and demands Phillip take back his insults. He tries to apologize but Susan blasts him, expressing her hatred as Beth and Jim enter. At Millennium, Vicky talks with Beth about Beth's happiness over her budding relationship with Jim. Vicky says she's jealous, and reveals she and David disagree about his ambitions. She's dismayed when David arrives in his policeman uniform. David disarms her with a kiss. Prepared to defend herself against Dinah, Cassie charges at the intruder -- who turns out to be Jim. They talk about his feelings for Beth, and he admits that he still feels like he's cheating on his late wife. Cassie is supportive as Jim decides he'll take things slowly with Beth. They talk about their lost loves, and Jim asks Cassie to a friendly dinner. They head to Millennium, where Beth is upset to see Jim with another woman. She's relieved when Jim spots her and asks her for another date. Ben prepares for his dinner with Carmen with champagne, caviar, flowers, the works. But Blake arrives, to his dismay, and tries to get him to explain his breakup with her. She sees the romantic setup and, certain he's involved with another woman, is hurt and furious. Ben defends himself, saying this is a business dinner, and again asserts that he broke up with her because he loves her. He then ushers her out. Blake hides and sees Carmen arrive, then bursts into Ben's room, reminding Ben that this doesn't look like a business dinner... unless he had to pay for Carmen!
