Guiding Light: Monday June 21, 1999

Max finds Susan knocked out thanks to the sleeping pills. He wakes her, and Susan - upset that she'd failed to stop Beth - wants to have a "wild" evening. She drags a reluctant Max to "make-out point." When he tries to calm her down, she decides to go for a moonlight swim. Blake reels from the divorce papers Ross has given her. They both admit that they've been leaving the door open for a possible reunion, but decide to close the door at last. After dividing up the family photographs, the solemn pair sign their divorce papers, then embrace. Danny accuses Carmen of hurting Michelle. She denies it, and Ben defends her. Danny leaves and, at the lighthouse, sees the sign of Michelle's struggle. Deciding against Carmen's involvement, Danny tracks down the true culprit.... Carmen thanks Ben for sticking up for her, though he wryly states that he doesn't think she's innocent. She rewards Ben by making him president of Sancorp, her late husband's first company in Springfield. Ben's thrilled, knowing he can finally go up against Alan. Locked in a hospital room, Michelle is aghast to find Rick is her captor! Rick explains that to protect her, he's authorized a 72-hour psychiatric watch on her. Michelle blasts him for frightening her and Danny. She vows to return to Danny. Danny arrives at the hospital and argues with Rick. He asserts that he and Michelle will one day have a safe future together. Rick is unconvinced, and says that he's responsible for Michelle's safety. As Michelle pounds on the door, Danny promises to find a way to free her.
