Guiding Light: Friday December 10, 2004

As Bill moves Olivia in to his apartment, she gives him one last chance to be free, but he refuses. They are immediately faced with a new problem: Alan intends to fight for his rights regarding Emma, insisting that Phillip’s child belongs with the Spauldings. Olivia admits she’s scared, but Bill assures her that his Christmas surprise will take care of this. Meanwhile, a lawyer tips off Alan that Bill is planning to adopt Emma. The paramedics arrive and Gus gives Harley as Ruth the opportunity to escape while Frank tends to his ailing father. Later, Harley desperately searches for something or someone who could throw suspicion off Buzz and clear his name – and a tip points her in Billy’s direction. She closes in on him, questioning and pressuring him, hoping he will confess. But Billy keeps his cool, causing Harley to doubt her instincts and her motives. Later, a distressed Harley meets with Gus, certain of Billy’s innocence. Meanwhile, Billy makes a cryptic call about the night of the murder, ordering the person on the line to disappear. Reva brings Jonathan to the island home of his foster parents to confront the man who abused him. Jonathan is reluctant to face his tormentor but he and Reva are in for a shock when they discover that Alfred disappeared in a boating accident a couple of months ago. Jonathan explodes at Reva that he took care of Alfred and imagine what he could do to her! Reva doesn’t believe him and he says it’s not true. With tough love, Reva urges Jonathan to say the things he’s kept inside all these years and Jonathan lets go, raging with emotion. Reva is moved by his courage though it might have been more for Reva’s benefit than himself. Alone in the house, Jonathan tosses a cigarette on a chair, which begins to burn as he walks out the door.
