Guiding Light: Friday December 17, 2004

Fresh out of the hospital, Buzz is placed under arrest. Harley attempts to enlist Gus in a plan to stage Ruth’s suicide on the old town bridge but he tries to talk her out of it. Shortly after, Gus learns from Frank that Ruth has been spotted on the bridge. Harley is on the bridge, dressed as Ruth and working with a camera, knowing the police are on the way. Frank gets to the bridge, yells for her to surrender, but she runs. Gus gets there also as Frank pulls his gun and fires a warning shot. She wheels and hits the side of the old bridge, which gives way, sending Harley over the side into the raging waters below. At Ravenwood, Alan threatens to have Olivia committed unless she agrees to let him have a stronger say in Emma’s upbringing. He wants her to prevent Bill from going ahead with an adoption. Olivia didn’t know anything about the adoption and angrily rejects Alan but he means business. Against all her better instincts, she gives in to Alan but he seals the deal when a nurse appears and gives Olivia a shot, knocking her out cold. Billy goes to Josh to tell him about Bill’s request for help in defeating Alan. Josh realizes that if Alan intends to take Emma from Olivia, he has to prove she’s unfit and a murder rap would do the trick. Billy realizes that he must do the right thing and confess. He thanks Josh and rushes off. But when he gets to the police station Frank and Gus have already left to track down Ruth and Billy finds himself facing Buzz, ready to tell all. Cassie has an unpleasant run in with Jonathan and asks Reva to keep him away from her wedding. Reva complies, but is concerned that continuing to push Jonathan away will lead to his continuing to act out. Later, Jonathan presents Cassie with a gift, but when he leaves, she throws it away. Jonathan returns and is furious about what she’s done.
