Guiding Light: Monday December 20, 2004

The police search for Ruth on the rocks below the bridge. Meanwhile, Gus makes the startling discovery that Harley staged the fall, and is hiding on a beam under the bridge. Harley pleads with Gus to help cover for her and say he saw the body washed away by the current. A guilt-ridden Frank believes that he forced Ruth to her death, and orders teams to scour the riverbanks for her body. Then Ruth’s video confession is found and the case on Phillip’s murder is closed. Meanwhile, at the police department, Billy is prepared to confess his involvement in Phillip’s death to Buzz. Jeffrey arrives and just when Billy is about to start talking, the news about Ruth reaches the department and Billy keeps quiet. Frank and Gus return to the station and Buzz is released. Harley arrives and feigns surprise when she learns the news about Ruth. She’s relieved, but Gus is disturbed by the fact that the real killer is still out there. Later, to Harley’s dismay, Frank vows to track down Ruth’s family and break the news personally of her death. Edmund confronts Jonathan with the fact that he hired a private investigator that can prove Jonathan set the fire in San Jamar. Edmund won’t use the information to blackmail Jonathan; he just wants a promise that Jonathan will stay away from Cassie’s wedding. Jonathan is amused by how many people keep asking him to not go and claims he couldn’t be less interested. But later, Jonathan makes a suspicious call about renting a tuxedo. Meanwhile, Dinah comes to the hospital to confirm her belief that she’s pregnant. But she’s crushed when she learns that in fact, she is not pregnant.
