Harley spends the night before her sentencing with Bill, asking for his help in taking her mind off Gus. Wanting to forget about his fight with Olivia, Bill stays and the two work together to clean out her office. Their mutual comforting takes a surprising turn when they begin to kiss, desperate to push their troubles away. Harley stops their imminent love making, and the friends drift off to sleep. Meanwhile, Gus pulls a gun on Alan. Not realizing the gun is fake, Alan agrees to strike a deal with Gus. Gus agrees to return to Spaulding in exchange for Alan’s favorable testimony on Harley’s behalf and his promise to help Gus find Phillip’s true killer. Later, an exhausted Gus comes upon Harley and Bill in bed together and Harley lets him think the worst. Meanwhile, Olivia is eager to make amends with Bill but is held up by a visit from Sebastian. He reveals that his new improved attitude on life is mostly for show and he has plans up his sleeve. Later, Alan offers Olivia and Emma a home with him at Spaulding but Olivia surprises Alan, and herself, when she holds out hope for forgiveness from Bill. Dinah criticizes Edmund’s plan for breaking the news of the baby to Cassie and Dinah innocently suggests he practice his speech on her. But his fake speech leads an overwhelmed Dinah to impulsively kiss him and an angry Edmund has to put her in her place. Meanwhile, Cassie signs her separation papers and opens the door for Jeffrey to confess his feelings to her. Later, Jeffrey gets a little help from band friends as they play Cassie and Jeffrey a love song but Cassie is still too raw to consider a new relationship. Jeffrey vows to win her heart but later, when Cassie goes to deliver the separation papers to Edmund, she gets a shock.
