The episode begins with a chicken picking Ruby to be the mayor. “I am doomed” Lavon says, but Lemon assures him “the mayor’s race is far from over”. “All that matters, is tonight’s big debate” Lemon tells him. She asks Lavon to “crush” Ruby in the debate. Magnolia tells Zoe how Brick hasn’t been eating properly and isn’t taking care of himself. She wants Zoe to “fix “him. Zoe promises she shall look into the issue. Zoe later checks up on Brick and asks him “is there anything wrong?” Brick doesn’t give her a straight answer, but Zoe persists. Lemon: Wade! You are so perfect to you traipsing through the woods looking for a red-neck trailer. You'll fit right in.
Ruby: Lemon, Mayor Hayes.
Lavon: Oh, no, now. It's Lavon, you know that.
Ruby: I know, but I thought it might be nice to say Mayor Hayes since you only have one day left to hear it.
Lemon: Only if we have to hear anything from you at all. I know we will all miss the dry, scarping sound of your voice in our ears.
Brick: Not one of these pens work. Damnit, Dr. Hart, why didn't you order any more pens?
Zoe: You know, there have been many scientific advancements since you were in school. Besides gravity, they have discovered that women are not uniquely adapted to "order supplies, make coffee, answer phones."
Magnolia: Dr. Hart, you have to fix my Dad.
Zoe: Ooh, I like that idea, but I'm not a vet.
Magnolia: I'm serious. He's crankier than usual, plus he's not eating and I don't even think he sleeps.
Zoe: Well, that doesn't sound good.
Magnolia: I know, I'm really worried.
Zoe: Alright, I'll look into it. I'm sure he's fine though.
Magnolia: I hope so, because I'm all alone with him at home now and I am this close to putting him in a nut house. I found I can do it with one form off the internet.
Zoe: Okay, I've got to get going. I have to figure out a way to give Brick an exam. I wish I knew a race horse doctor, they're used to dealing with horses asses.
Wade: Ah, he's fine. He just needs to get laid.
Zoe: Oh good, why don't you tell Magnolia that.
Wade: It's true.
Zoe: Really, that's your cure for whatever is wrong with him? Mad Cow Disease, brain tumour...
Lavon: Unite, hand-in-hand.
Ruby: Embrace our differences.
Lavon: Kiss the past goodbye.
AnnaBeth: Am I the only one who need a cigarette after that?
Lavon: Though I haven't seen her face much. She's been ahead in the polls so much in the last month that I've been looking at her behind...back. I've been looking at her back.
