Ezra is surprisingly good at predicting what Audrey is going to do with the next hand. Nate checks Ezra's hand of cards and discovers that he could have won, and suspects a hustle. Ezra explains that he felt bad about taking their money last time, so he decided to lose. They agree to let him continue playing.

At the station, Nathan leaves for the day and Chief Wournos invites him to go out with dinner. Nathan insists he has other business but his father knows he's lying, and Nathan agrees to go with him. However, Agent Howard of the FBI comes in and asks to see Audrey. They explain that it's Audrey's night off and they don't know where she is. Howard believes that Nathan is lying and Wournos steps in, forces Howard to ask politely, and then tells Nathan to admit that Audrey is on Duke's boat, the Cape Rouge. After Howard leaves, Nathan wishes that his father had given him a chance to give Audrey a heads up, but the chief doesn't see the point. Nathan storms off, insisting he has work, and Chief Wournos wonders what he did.

Nathan calls Audrey and warns her that Howard is on his way. He arrives and tells her that it's time to come home.

Howard and Audrey go to Duke's stateroom, and Howard points out that she hasn't been making her reports and has been avoiding her. When he suggests she come back to Boston, Audrey insists that she's been working hard. Howard tells her to report, and Audrey tries to explain how people in Haven can do things. He then takes out her reports and points out that none of what she just said is in them. They hear someone at the door and Audrey goes to investigate, and discovers that they've been locked in.

Nathan keeps trying to call Audrey, and Chief Wournos say she wanted to say something over dinner. He then asks what Nathan wants to say to him, Nathan accuses his father of knowing about the Troubles and his affliction. Chief Wournos points out that he wasn't ready, and that when he knew he had a problem, he went to a doctor even though he knew better. The chief figures that Nathan would just deny anything he might say. Nathan admits he might be right but wonders why he didn't call him on it. Chief Wournos figures Nathan would have ignored him, and they give p trying to have a discussion.

Duke starts losing and starts to leave, but Ezra offers to double his stake. When Duke wonders why he would do that, Ezra says he wants something important. Duke sits back down and asks what he wants.

The ship's hull block Audrey's cell phone, and Howard tells her to avoid his questions and make her report. She starts to get angry and he warns her that he can have her brought before a committee and reassigned.

Duke loses again and they call in their marker. Duke goes to get it and gets Julia to come with him. They go to the cargo hold and Duke claims that he lost a rare baseball card. However, he figures that the two men want something else. Tobias locks them in the hull and the two men cast off and pilot the ship into the harbor. Duke isn't sure what they're doing, and explains that he took Julia with him so she wouldn't be in danger. He gets but gets a couple of hidden shotguns and insists that he has something to deal with the situation.

As the sun rises, Audrey and Howard realize that something is going on, and Duke isn't responsible. Audrey breaks the porthole and tries to get a clear signal, but realizes that they're too far from shore. She sends a text and says she doesn't plan to send it from there.

Nathan tries to call Audrey, Julia, and Duke and gets no answer. Chief Wournos doesn't see a cause for concern but Nathan persists and tries to log onto Audrey's password. The chief guesses it on the first try and walks away.

Audrey gets a jar and puts her cell phone inside, then seals it tight with tape and tosses it out into the ocean.

Duke reveals that he has a secret passage in his cargo hold, and Julia wonders why he would think of that. Tobias comes by and stops them. When Duke tries to shoot him, he discovers that the two criminals have taken all of his bullets. After Tobias goes, Duke explains that a business associate introduced him to the two men, and she wonders why the business associate didn't tell him about the fact they were dangerous. When Julia asks what he does for a living, he says he delivers things and doesn't care what's inside of them. When she pushes the matter, Duke tells her that it's none of her business.

Howard has Audrey continue and wonders why she doesn't arrest the Troubled she's encountered when they break crimes. Audrey points out that some of the Troubled's "crimes" can't be proven. Howard doesn't care.

Audrey's cell phone drifts back into the harbor and sends its text message to Nathan. When he gets it, he calls the Coast Guard.

In the hull of the ship, a crack opens and water starts pouring in.

Audrey looks for the secret panel that Duke put in the stateroom. Howard warns her that Duke is a felon and that she should be working with FBI agents. Audrey finds the secret panel and points out that Duke's criminal past just let them get free.

Nate checks Audrey's computer files and learns that she was investigating Ezra and Tobias, high-stakes gamblers. He wonders why Audrey was investigating them, and why they were in a low-stakes game with Duke. Nathan prepares to go out to the harbor but Chief Wournos says that it won't do any good and that Nathan should just wait by the radio and wait for news.

When Julia worries, Duke tells her that Ezra and Tobias want them alive to find whatever box they're looking for, and that he has it safely hidden. She realizes how casual he is about everything, and wondered what happened to all his dreams and plans. Duke insists that he likes it in Haven but she dismisses him as a petty crook. When the boat starts to list, Duke realizes that they've sprung a leak and it will sink if they don't fix it.

Ezra and Tobias search for the box but fail to find it. Tobias tells Ezra to use his ability to tell what people are thinking, but Ezra says the boat is sinking and they need to stop it. Instead, Tobias says that they need to speed things up and goes to talk to Duke.

Howard wonders why he should waste Audrey's talents on the book, and she insists that she understands the people and can help them. Audrey feels that she was too unorthodox for the real world, but Howard wants at least one good reason to let her stay. Instead, Audrey gets an idea and takes some equipment from Howard's briefcase.

Duke refuses to tell the two crooks where the box can be found. Tobias has Ezra take Duke up on deck while he stays behind with Julia. Duke hears Julia screaming and Ezra demands to know where the box is. Ezra tries to read his thoughts and realizes that Duke is jamming his thoughts with porn and gibberish. Eventually Ezra gets through and pulls the box up from where it's hanging in the water by a cable.

Tobias calls their employer and tells him that they have the box, and that they'll have to abandon ship before it sinks. Meanwhile, Audrey sneaks into the cabin and calls Nathan, and tells him what he's doing. She admits that she wanted to dig deeper before she went to Nathan. Nathan tells her that Ezra spent a year in a psychiatric ward and had bouts of acuity and prescience. Audrey realizes that Ezra can anticipate what someone thinks before they think it, and gets an idea.

Chief Wournos tells Nathan that the Coast Guard is on the way. He tries to reassure Nathan, but Nathan says that it's too late. Chief Wournos tells him that he'll die some day, and Nathan will regret letting the chance slip by. When Nathan refuses to compromise, Chief Wournos brings up his wife, but Nathan refuses to discuss her or let his father blame her for dying and leaving him with his idiot son. He figures his father ignored him so that Nathan would ignore him, and that the chief finally has what he wanted.

Ezra starts to give under the pressure of all the thoughts he's reading. Tobias tells him to relax and leaves him alone with the fish. Meanwhile, Julia and Howard realizing that the ship is flooding and the water is getting dangerously high.

Audrey frees Duke and he tells her that they found the box. She tells him that Ezra can read what a person is going to do next, and that she has a way to beat him.

Duke whistles to get the crooks' attention, and then starts dancing around and making martial arts moves. Ezra has no idea what he's doing or what he'll do next, and suggests that Duke has a gun. Tobias threatens to shoot him, and Audrey tells him over the hidden radio earpiece to strip. Duke reveals that he isn't carrying a gun, and warns them that Audrey has a gun. She tells Duke what to say and Ezra distracts them long enough to disarm Tobias. Audrey captures Ezra and tells Duke to put his clothes back on.

When the ship returns to Haven, the police take Tobias and Ezra away. Nathan congratulates Audrey on her tactics, and Chief Wournos interrupts to call Nathan away on work. When Agent Howard asks what happened, Julia and Duke both tell him nothing useful. Once Audrey and Howard leave, Duke asks if Julia is okay. She explains that she screamed because Tobias threatened to hurt Duke if she didn't. Duke apologizes and Julia just walks away.

Howard wants to know why he should let Audrey stay in Haven. She insists that she needs to be there to find out about her past, and she needs to be in Haven to get the answers. Audrey hands in her gun and badge and resigns on the spot.

Duke looks at the box he was smuggling, and then calls his client and tells him that he can make the delivery. He agrees to take on another assignment for the client, but demands more pay. He then hides the box again.

Chief Wournos meets secretly with Agent Howard, who explains that he pressured Audrey so she'd rebel and stay, just like they wanted. Howard wonders if Audrey deserves the town, and the chief insists they need her there. The agent points out that there was a crack on the ship and tells Chief Wournos to get things under control soon.
