The episode begins with an aged man crossing a graveyard and walking up a hill. Meanwhile, there is a funeral procession that is driving down the street. The man then arrives at the top of the hill, places a box on the ground and pulls out a long range rifle. He is wearing prosthetic hands. He aims at the guard riding the bike in front of the procession. There is an accident and we see that a coffin falls off on the street from one of the vans. The man quickly leaves. The team arrives at the scene and Danny tells Steve that the funeral was that of Officer Ben Keoki. Steve knows Keoki. He tells Danny that Keoki lived around his block and he was very close to his father. He was like an Uncle to him. ..

Episode Notes
The episode is a take on the Original Hawaii Five-0 episode 6.01 also titled 'Hookman'.

This is the first time that the current series will use a non-Hawaiian name.

“Hookman,” the original series’ season six Emmy Award-winning premiere episode (original airdate Sept. 11, 1973), centered around a double amputee out to avenge the loss of his hands by killing the police officers responsible, including McGarrett. In the updated version, McGarrett’s father was one of the officers responsible for his maiming.

Peter Weller (“RoboCop”) guest stars as the lead villain as well as directs this production. Jason Koger, a double upper amputee, will be stand in for Weller in close-ups of his prosthetic hands. In the original production, Jay J. Armes portrayed the lead villain and was a double amputee himself.

Episode References
The guest cast, producers, music, writers and directors names were replaced in the original Five-0 font and colour instead of the Rebooted version white font. The end credits didn't change

The episode also revealed the title 'Hookman' after Hookman/Curt shot Keoki. The first for the Rebooted version. The episode titles were revealed in the Original episodes. This is the first time that the rebooted version has used an English title to the episode where Hawaiian meanings are used in the other episodes of the rebooted version.

Keoki & oOkala were the victims in the original series that were the officers involved in the bank robbery where Curt/Hookman had his hands blown off. Instead of Steve in the rebooted series they added John McGarrett as the officer involved while John is no longer alive Curt/Hookman added Steve to his hit list. In a surprising twist instead of the original Sgt. Duke Lukela was also added to the rebooted version as the officer involved in the bank robbery. Duke survived the ordeal from Curt/Hookman's sniper shot where he was shot 3 times.

The close up shots of the bionic hands were used by an actual real life amputee by the name of Jason Koger who lost both of his hands in an ATV accident in 2008. During his audition the producers were amazed by his work with his hands and got him his job as Peter's arm double in the show. The hands alone apparently cost $3,000 each to be made. Jason is also seen in the P.O when Steve & Danno walked in
