Pledging My Love - Recap

The scene opens with Marti and the rest of the cheerleading squad dancing. Marty dances with Dan and starts kissing him. She wakes up. It was a dream. Meanwhile Derek and Vanessa are in their house and Derek comes in and asks where his tie is. Vanessa asks if he is mad at her because things are not slowing down at his work and he is not paying attention to her. Derek tells that he works hard for their relationship. At school, Alice is in line and a football player is checking her out. She tells him to take a picture and he tells that he has his own. Alice walks into practice and Savannah tells that they are behind her on it. Alice is confused. Vanessa calls Alice into her office and shows that everyone is talking about the naked pictures she took. Alice tells that she took them for Jake when he was in Dallas. Vanessa tries to connect with her, but she storms off. Lewis runs up to Alice and asks if he can help her “talk” to Jake about this.

Marti gets called in to Julian’s classroom and he tells that he knows about the two of them going to see Travis in prison. He tells that Travis is his client and that Mr. Overton is pressing legal action to the school because they harassed him. He tells them not to interrupt his process that he has to over turn a law that could save hundreds of lives. Alice and Lewis visit Jake and he tells that someone stole his phone. Lewis grabs Jake and he tells that he will have Lewis in the hospital if he doesn’t let go. Lewis lets go and Jake tells that he doesn’t know who did this and Lewis has a theory. Outside the bookstore, Marti tells that she is upset that Julian kicked Morgan and her off the three strikes debate team and that she is not allowed to see Travis anymore. Marti talks to Dan and they talk about their “incident” and Marti tells that it will be forgotten after a while. Dan tells that it is not that simple and Savannah comes up and asks if everything is fine. Dan tells that everything is alright.

Vanessa spills her coffee everywhere and Red is there. They talk about Alice’s pictures and she tells that it is proof that bad decisions ruin your life. Red tells that you can’t force anyone to listen to the advice is given. Vanessa is upset also from her fight with Derek and Red is more interested in that and tries to get her to talk about it. They play around and Vanessa almost kisses Red. She tells him to leave and that they are not talking anymore. Lewis, Jake and Alice go to the locker room and Lewis tells that it is Damian who stole the phone because when he was on the team, Damian would steal a lot of things. They confront him and find Jake’s phone. He is smug and tells that they can’t do anything to him because he is one of the best football players. They slam him against the wall and Red comes in and breaks up the fight. As they leave, he tells Alice that Vanessa is a friend to her, not an enemy.

In the practice gym, Savannah is teaching Derek some dance moves and he is not getting them. Vanessa comes in and Derek and Dan hide. Behind a stack of mats, Dan and Derek talk about “the one” and how Derek knows when someone is “the one”. Derek tells that Savannah is very kind and that Dan is lucky to have her in his life. He tells that you just know when it is right. Later that night, Alice, Jake and Lewis ask Marti if they have any legal actions that they can press. She tells that she doesn’t, but Alice tells that if Marti wanted to, she can write laws herself and make it happen. She storms off and Darwin tells that he knows something about Damian that no one knows about. Under Alice’s advice, Marti goes to visit Travis, despite what Julian says. Moments later, Julian storms in and tells that he kicked Marti off the team. Travis tells that Marti stays on the team or Julian is fired. Julian takes the bluff and tells that he will step down as Travis’s lawyer and that Marti has no legal right to file anything.

Marti comes into Julian’s class and tells that she is dropping his class. She tells that she first took his class because she thought that he was the type of lawyer that stands up to bullies and changes things to fit his agenda. Julian tells that he only helped 2 people when he fought against the system. She walks out. Later at the bar, Alice tells that Damian is gay and that she is going to out him. Both Jake and Lewis are in agreement that she shouldn’t do that because it will ruin his career as a potential Pro football player. She tells that she doesn’t care because he hurt her. She goes to the locker room and gets Damian’s pass card and gets into his dorm room. She opens his laptop and puts a webcam. However, Red catches her and takes her to Vanessa. In her office, Vanessa tells that outing a person for being gay is wrong. She tells a story on how someone outed a guy for being gay and the boy was ridiculed and then hung himself. She tells that she has a better idea.

Alice and Darwin visit Damian and they tell that they are going to spread it around that he and Darwin hooked up unless he takes feminine classes next semester, one including being a nude model for figure sketching. Darwin tells that he is signing up for the class. Julian visits Marti at Cheertown and tells that she was right. He tells that she and Morgan are back on the team and that he needs to make sure that he is like he was before and push for justice. Later, Savannah takes Vanessa to the Orpheum Theater. Suddenly Derek appears and starts dancing to a Michael Jackson song. The other cheerleaders join in and Derek makes his way down the stairs and asks Vanessa to marry him. She says yes. Later at the bar, Red comes up to Vanessa and tells her congratulations. He walks away. Dan comes into Savannah’s room and tells that he needs some space. She slaps him and tells him to get out. She cries. Meanwhile, Coach Raymond comes into Coach Lodge’s office and kisses her. She pushes him away and then goes back to kissing him. She wakes up from a dream next to Derek. The episode ends.
