The scene opens with the "Hellcats" practicing when one of the Hellcats starts coughing and then suddenly falls on the mat. The doctor looks the cheerleader over and finds out that she has acute strep throat. She tells the rest of the squad that they are going to have to be tested as well. Later, Dan comes over and asks why they are not having a dinner to celebrate the road to Nationals. Marti tells that several of the squad members have strep throat and they are sleeping in the practice room to avoid the infected. Dierdre comes over and Marti introduces her to Savannah and Dan and immediately Savannah goes into give Deirdre a hug, but she is not wanting of the new-found affection. Deirdre asks to play Marti's guitar and she says yes. Dan is shocked on how standoffish Deirdre is.

Later that evening, Charlotte shows that she got a postcard from Parker and their mom rips it up. She says that they don't need contact from him anymore. She goes up to Wanda and asks for another glass and she says that if she was in her situation right now, she would be drinking to it as well. Emily comes in and takes a glass too. She goes up to Vanessa and she is told that it is a private party. Emily is inappropriate trying to hint that Vanessa is an unethical coach and Lewis pretends not to hear what she said about Red and the whole pay-for-play scandal. Vanessa tells her to talk to Red about it. Marti comes up to Deirdre and asks her to mingle. She says that she doesn't want to know shallow cheerleaders and says that it is pathetic. Travis asks if Marti is going to run after her and she tells that Deirdre just went into the showers.

Marti walks in the room and says that she is not smart talking bad about cheerleaders in a room full of them. She invites Deirdre to come and says that she wants her to be there. Marti lets her go and she asks what time tomorrow. Marti tells her to be there at 6am sharp. The next day in Atlanta Georgia, the "Hellcats" arrive at Nationals. They go into the auditorium to find the "Cyclones" practicing their routine. Katy comes down and says that they have spies. She goes up to Lewis and Alice and asks if she can talk to Lewis alone. Alice leaves and Kathy asks if they can start over. However, Lewis tells that he is kind of with Alice again after she broke it off. She tells him to forget it and walks away. Alice gets to her place and her father and step mother comes in. They say congrats for getting to Nationals. She tells them that they are running on low because of an epidemic of strep throat. He asks if she is flying and she says that she is. He tells her that is all he cares about.

They start their rehearsal and they are not doing too good. One of the girls falls and breaks her arm. Dan gets a call from Charlotte telling that her water broke and that they are going to the hospital now. She tells that she needs Savannah there. Marti gives her a change of clothes and Savannah tells that she will be back to cheer with her squad. Deirdre tells Marti that Marti wounldn't do that for her. She tells Deirdre that she would because she is her sister. However, Deirdre doesn't believe her. Alice and Lewis sit down with her father and step-mother and her step-mother notices that Alice is clearing her throat. She asks if Alice will take her to the bathrooms. When they get there, she asks Alice if she has strep throat. She says that she has been on antibiotics. Lewis gets a call and tells the person on the other end that he is coming. He asks to borrow Alice's father's car and tells that he will be right back.

Meanwhile, Savannah arrives at the hospital and asks how Charlotte is doing. Her mom starts to cry and says that the doctors don't know if the baby is going to be able to breathe on its own because it is premature. They sit down and Savannah offers to pray with her mother. Lewis gets to a hotel room and finds Kathy on the bed with a bottle of alcohol next to her. She tells him to give her his jacket and he does. He goes in the bathroom to find her clothes in the toilet and Kathy locks him inside. She tells that he had sex with her and the relationship meant more to her than to him. Savannah gets a call from Alice saying that she needs to get there because Lewis is not showing up. Savannah tells Alice that she needs to be with her sister right now. She tells Vanessa the news and she says that she understands. She asks if Alice is alright, and she says that she is. Lewis tries to get out of the bathroom but it is no use.

The "Hellcats" are about to perform when the judge tells that they only have 17 and need 18 cheerleaders. Back in the bathroom, Lewis manages to get out the window. He arrives, but another judge tells that there was an anonymous tip that tells that some of the squad members has strep throat. They get tested and later, Alice is watching the television screen that shows Memphis Christian "Cyclones" won the National Championship. Her father tells that these things happen. Her step-mother comes up and Alice tells that she is dead to her. However, it wasn't her that told about the strep throat. Meanwhile, the Dean and Emily are talking at The Rat and tells that he knows that she told on the "Hellcats" over a person vendetta. He says that the trustees are upset and she asks if he is going to turn her in. He asks if she is seeing anyone and she tells that she is not right now.

At the hospital, Charlotte is holding her baby and Savannah and her mother watch. Dan comes up and Savannah asks about the "Hellcats". Dan tells her to focus on Charlotte's new baby boy, Joseph. At Nationals, Marti talks to Deirdre and tells her that she would do anything for her because she is her sister. Deirdre confesses that she is scared that she will get tired of her and Marti hugs her and tells that she is never going to leave her. Alice tells that she is not leaving until they perform their routine. Vanessa agrees and says that they worked hard to get there. They go out and start doing their routine. Alice's dad pays the guy to give lights and music. Afterward, the "Hellcats" return home and Deirdre's phone rings. Marti answers it. A man tells her not to hang up and tells her that he needs to see her. Marti realizes that the man is Rex, her father. He asks who he is talking to and she hangs up and tells Deirdre to go back where she came from. The episode ends with Marti riding her bike in the dark.
