It is the beginning of the 9th Season of Hell’s Kitchen and another chance for 18 Chefs to show that they have what it takes to make it into the top. The show starts at 9:18 AM somewhere in Los Angeles. The 18 hopefuls are on a bus and meet James, the Maître D. They make a detour and go to the Orpheum Theater for a show off of the Hell’s Kitchen contestants. Pumped, they stand as the curtains are open. Only Chef Ramsey is there. He says that none of them are stars yet and that the winner this year gets a quarter of a Million dollars and the head chef in New York at the upscale “BLT Steak”.

The contestants are: Jason, Natalie, Carrie, Will, Gina, Amanda, Krupa, Monterrey, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Paul, Chino, Tommy, Brendan, Jennifer, Steven, Jamie, and Elise are the Chefs this time and they get their first task to cook their best dishes in 45 minutes. Chef Ramsey tells them to hurry up and all of them bump into one another as they try to make their dishes to be perfect. Ramsey decides that the teams are going to be split as men vs. women.
First up is Carrie vs. Will. Ramsey spits out Carrie’s mashed potatoes with sugar and calls them disgusting. Will’s dish gets complimented. The men get a point. Next is Amanda vs. Brendan and both dishes are up to Ramsey’s satisfaction and both get a point. Next up is Jennifer vs. Jonathan. Jennifer’s dish is complimented while Ramsey is disgusted with Jonathan’s and doesn’t even eat it. The women get a point. Up next is Krupa vs. Paul and Ramsey says that Krupa’s looks disgusting. He says that Paul’s is good and gives the men the point. Next plates are Jamie vs. Steven. Ramsey hates both of them and no one gets the point. Next is Elise vs. Chino. Elise’s plate gets complimented and ties it for the women. Natalie vs. Monterrey and both are good. This is the same for Elizabeth vs. Tommy. The last two are Gina vs. Jason. Gina’s dish is good, but Jason’s tacos were better. The men win the first round and get to eat at the LA Market, the restaurant Nona’s won last season. The women have to clean the dishes.

The men go to “LA Market” and meet Nona, Season 8 winner. She gives them some helpful advice and the men are on Cloud 9. Meanwhile, the kitchen is a mess and there are so many dishes. The women argue about who should be cleaning and who shouldn’t be. The next day, the chefs go out to their first service and it is Blue vs, Red team, which happen to be the men vs. women. Right off, Jason starts to feel bad. Will comes up to him and tells that he has to go to the medic to be looked at. The medic comes in and looks at Jason. The ambulance comes and takes Jason to the hospital. Ramsey comes in and says that Jason will not be returning to Hell’s Kitchen.
At 6:05 PM, the restaurant opens up. The Blue Team gets their orders and so do the Red Team. Monterrey sends the side before the entre is ready. Ramsey yells at Monterrey and asks why he is sending out the side, before the actual entre. He apologizes and gets working again. Meanwhile, after Elise makes a horrible risotto, Krupa steps up. On the Blue team, Steven brings up the 2nd dish before the first. Krupa brings up the risotto and Ramsey says that it is great.

At 7:35 PM, Chino burns the Cod and Ramsey takes him out of it to watch only while the rest of the Blue team works with a man down. The Red Team get their act together and Krupa scores again with her Beef Wellington. Krupa leads the team and gets the entres out.
Steven is messing up on his order and Ramsey tells that the food isn’t done. Steven defends them and Ramsey yells and tells him to eat it. Tommy messes up on the same order and Ramsey makes him sit out as well. Now that 3 members of the Blue Team are sitting out, they feel the pressure. The Red Team slows down when Carrie messes up her order over and over again. Jonathan pulls through with a delicious Beef Wellington, but Monterrey is not doing his part with the Garnish. On the Red Team, Elise takes over the fish to work as a team, but Ramsey doesn’t like it and sits Elise out.
At 8:58, the customers start to walk out and Ramsey tells the Blue Team to stop cooking because they are done. The same thing happens on the Red Team too. Afterward, Elise and Carrie argue about the food. Brendan and Paul get into it a bit and Ramsey tells that the Blue Team loses and tells that they have to decide which chef is going home. They meet and talk about who did the worst in the kitchen. Steven defends himself and says that Monterrey messed it up for them all. Paul says that Brendan was the one who messed up too. The come to a decision.

The Blue Team comes in and Ramsey asks who is going home. First nomination is Steven. The second nomination is Monterrey. Ramsey says that there are actually three who should be stepping up to go home and calls Chino to come forward along with Steven and Monterrey. They all plead their cases and Ramsey tells that Chino and Monterrey can go back to the group and that Steven is going home. He tells the rest of the remaining contestants that they are going to have to step it up and stop messing around.
