Biting British chef Gordon Ramsay tutors and tortures 12 aspiring restaurateurs vying for their own eatery. In the opener, the hopefuls are split into two teams for an opening-night challenge that becomes a nightmare for the customers.

The teams compete in a squid-cleaning race for a dinner with---and cooked by---Gordon before enduring a day of training for the restaurant's second night. Unfortunately, the chef's lessons leave the patrons disgusted enough to take matters into their own hands.

The remaining chefs face their third night in the kitchen, which turns out to be someone's last stand after the pressure---and Gordon's goading---prove to be too much to handle. After that, a second wannabe is cut from the roster.

The players attempt to re-create Gordon's signature dishes for a discerning crowd at an L.A. eatery.

Tensions in the kitchen rise during an all-Italian night at the restaurant, where one of the teams plays dirtier than Ramsey's mouth and another makes a move that throws everyone for a loop.



6 :01x06 - Day 6

The two teams must create their own menus for their sixth night at the restaurant, which ends with one more of the wannabes getting the boot. After that, a power failure adds to the tension as the teams are broken up for a night of preparing desserts in front of the diners.



7 :01x07 - Day 7

The final four have to create a haute-cuisine meal made entirely of leftovers from the previous night's dinner service. The winner gets to cook alongside Ramsay on a national TV show, which raises the temperature in the kitchen even higher.

Gordon orders his final three hopefuls to serve their signature dishes to a dining room packed with their family members, which proves a little too daunting for one overworked contestant.



9 :01x09 - Day 9

In the finale, Gordon's final two competitors try to impress the chef during a simulation that tests their ability to run a restaurant, including the kitchen, a staff and the front of the house. In addition, the eliminated wannabes return to play a part in the challenge. And perhaps wreak some havoc.

In addition, the winner will be eligible to receive a financial interest in the restaurant and assist in the design of the eatery.

After a disastrous opening night, the women deal with their defeat while the men prepare for their next challenge. But when the pressure is on, both teams face setbacks as the stress cracks one wannabe chef for good while another gets pulled from the kitchen. Per Ramsay's request, the contestants learn that a good restaurant is not just about food but also about service, and they get a taste of what it's like to be a waiter at a restaurant. With Ramsay up in smoke, two are put on the chopping block and one is forced to leave.

After another frustrating dinner service, Ramsay teaches the group a lesson in communication and timing, which are key to a successful restaurant. But when gender roles are challenged, Ramsay isn't the only one frustrated with the wannabe chefs as each team works harder to prove the opposite sex wrong. The third night's goal is to have a complete dinner service, but find out who can't cut it and is kicked out of the kitchen.

Inspiration is Ramsay's next lesson as the two teams battle it out with original dishes to win a night out in the town. With the stakes even higher, Ramsay gives them the opportunity to create their own menu for the night's dinner service. But even with the freedom of cooking up the meal of their choice, one wannabe chef can't stand the heat and gets cooked for good.

With only five remaining contestants, Ramsay turns up the heat as the two teams merge and the wannabe chefs compete for the first time as individuals. While some take a trip to Las Vegas with Ramsay and get a taste of what it's like to own a restaurant at the Red Rock Casino Resort, others let jealousy eat away at them. As the show opens its eighth night, the group must complete the dinner service together, but teamwork doesn't come easy for these competing chefs and one is put on the chopping block.

Dinner service begins nicely for the final four, but it doesn't end that way. When the dishes are cleared, three chefs are left.

After a surprising elimination round, the remaining three contestants realize that no one is ever safe in the kitchen and tension amounts as they each strive to be the last one standing. With the finals approaching, Ramsay tests their leadership skills and gives them each a chance to run the kitchen. But his job is not as easy as it seems and one wannabe chef learns that it takes more than good cooking to win it all.

Raucous British chef Gordon Ramsay returns for a third summer to both tutor and torture culinary wannabes, who will be divided into two teams (men vs. women) in this season opener. A job as a Las Vegas head chef for the winner lies ahead, but surviving Ramsay is a dubious task. The first contestant will be eliminated at the show's end.

The first challenge facing the six remaining contestants: make appetizers and entrées from leftovers. Then the teams must come up with their own menus for the evening's dinner service. The diners definitely prefer one team's menu, but that's not necessarily a good thing since devising selections and executing them are two different things.

The five remaining chefs are combined into one team and compete head-to-head to impress 100 hungry high school students. The winning chef wins a trip with Chef Ramsay and one other of their choice to the Green Valley Ranch resort.

At dinner service, two contestants vie for power, which makes Chef Ramsay lose his cool and send someone home during dinner.

The three remaining chefs prepare fine-dining versions of classic American dishes for outside judges---their mothers, who don't know whose plates they're sampling. Then each contestant gets to run Hell's Kitchen during dinner service. They must watch for subtle traps set for them by sous chefs MaryAnn and Scott.

Season four begins with 15 hopefuls playing to win a job as a chef along side Gordon Ramsey in his L.A. restaurant. The contestants will be divided into teams of 'men vs. women' after preparing their signature dish. Gordon will be impressed by most of the entries, but one will make him retch.

The season's first challenge finds the contestants slicing halibut into thin 6 ounce fillets. One member of each team must serve as a maitre d' during the dining service, and one contestant will be eliminated at the shows conclusion.

The two teams must compete to see who can prepare the most pasta for the evening dinner service, with a trip to Santa Monica for the winners. One contestant winds up in the hospital after an accident in the kitchen.



36 :04x05 - 11 Chefs Compete

The chefs receive their first challenge, create a gourmet pizza. The winning team will head to Santa Barbara for a gourmet meal, while the losers will be sentenced to taking pizza orders during dinner service and then deliver them, at which one contestant is rushed to the hospital after suffering an accident.

This episode finds the chefs challenged to satisfy a picky teen as they cook up a meal for her birthday party. The winners will be chosen by the teen by picking the menu theme she prefers, while the losers are stuck with a perky party planner to help with the party decisions.



38 :04x07 - 9 Chefs Compete

First aired: May/13/2008

The nine remaining chefs are challenged to compete in a taste test, with the winner receiving a day at the spa and the losers sent to clean the dorm. Once the dinner ervice is completed, Chef Ramsay must decide on which tastes worse, raw food or a lack or communication within the kitchen.



39 :04x08 - 8 Chefs Compete

The group dynamics are drastically changed when Chef Ramsey asks for a volunteer to switch sides. This week's challenge consists of creating 4 new dishes from 20 ingredients. One chef requires a medic after injuring himself during the challenge.

The opening challenged for the seven remaining chefs is to prepare dishes in a relay race, with the winners receiving surfing lessons and the losers being forced to clean the restaurant. The dinner service finds the teams creating their own menus. Following the difficulty for one team is a most unusual elimination ceremony.

Chef Ramsey hopes to inspire his wanna be chefs by bringing them to the restaurant of last years winner in London West Hollywood. Back in the kitchen, now with the teams merged each chef is given one main ingredient to uses in their dish. The dinner service finds one chef burning the rice and another scorching their hand.

Chef Ramsey challenges the five remaining contestants to teach cooking impaired housewives how to prepare a gourmet meal, with a winner receiving personal lessons from Chefs Mark Peel and Ben Ford. The dinner service finds all the chefs struggling with a dozen of appetizers, main courses and desserts.

The final four contestants are challenged to cook a meal for 80 expectant moms. A $1,000 shopping spree is awaiting the chosen winner, while the others will be left to clean up after the luncheon. Chef Ramsey's hand is burned during the dinner service by one careless contestant, angering him.

66 :06x05 - 12 Chefs compete

The remaining 12 chefs have the honor of creating a welcome back home dinner for a returning U.S. marine, where the losers will be left in charge of cleaning and decorating the dinning room for a party under the watchful eye of Gordon Ramsey's wife, Tana. Later, chef Ramsey gets heated up during dinner service over cold food.

The remaining 11 chefs are challenged to create a full three-course meal which only totals up to 700 calories. The winning team gets a day at the beach and volleyball pointers from 2000 Olympian Annette Davis, while the losers must prep both kitchens. One chef snaps back at Chef Ramsey, while another is taken to the hospital's emergency room.



68 :06x07 - 10 Chefs compete

The remaining ten chefs are rolling the dice to see what ingredients they can use in their challenge dish, with the winners earning a trip to Las Vegas. Later, chefs from Gordon Ramsey's own restaurants help out in the dinner service, which is interrupted by repeating mistakes and one bossy teammate.

The remaining four chefs meet British child actor-impressionist Felix Wright, a diminutive version of Chef Ramsey, then meet 80 other youngsters, who they will feed without serving any meat. Two chefs have a bad night at dinner service and one is let go.

After a sloppy start, dinner service takes an unexpected turn of events. Later, Ramsay challenges the teams to shop on a budget and transform four classic ingredients into elegant dishes worthy of fine dining. Four special judges critique the teams' creations, and HELL'S KITCHEN welcome some very special guests to the show's most elegant dinner service to date.

With tension building between the contestants as the competition heats up, Chef Ramsay tests the chefs imagination and creativity as well as their ability to work together. In the first challenge, the teams are asked to create one cohesive dish using five randomly selected ingredients. The team that prepares the most harmonious dish will jet off to Las Vegas as a reward, while the losers will be forced to wash, peel and cut more than 1,000 potatoes. After a sloppy start, dinner service takes an unexpected turn of events. Later, Ramsay challenges the teams to shop on a budget and transform four classic ingredients into elegant dishes worthy of fine dining.
