In Odessa, Claire tries to talk to her father about her birth parents, but he puts it off, saying to wait until she’s older.

Mohinder goes to his father’s apartment and finds an exterminator messing with the phone lines. The guy tries to give a cover story but when Mohinder doesn’t believe it, the guy draws a pistol and tries to run. He slams into a neighbor woman on the hallway and drops his gun, and she grabs it and he runs away.

Hiro suddenly finds himself in Times Square in New York City, extends his arms out in celebration, and calls out cheerfully to everyone in Japanese as he walks down the street. He spots himself on a cover of a comic book, 9th Wonders! Issue #14, holding his arms out in the middle of Times Square. Hiro starts reading through the comic and then pays for it and runs off to a theater entrance. The comic tells the story of how he discovered his powers in Tokyo and relates his exact conversation with Ando. He finds the address of the illustrator, Isaac Mendez, in the back.

Isaac wakes up in his apartment with Simone tending to him in the aftermath of his overdoes. He tries to explain to her how he saw a nuclear holocaust in the future but she thinks he’s hallucinating from the heroin.

At school, Zach tries to get Claire’s attention but she ignores him to talk to the popular kids. Principal Marks comes up and says that the police want to talk to Claire and her friend Jackie about the train wreck and the mysterious figure who rescued a man.

In Las Vegas, Niki wakes and finds a bloody mess in the garage, along with the body parts of Linderman’s thugs. She takes the video camera and prepares to run but sees herself in a mirror… except her image is covered in blood. The reflection tries to shush her, and Niki locks up the garage and goes outside, then calls to tell Micah she’ll pick him up. She gets in the car but watches the tape on the camera that loses video right when Niki started to fight back. Suddenly the phone rings and Niki realizes she’s blacked out. She’s now wearing new clothing and the car has moved. It’s Micah on the phone, who says he’s been waiting for four hours.

Niki picks up Micah at her friend Tina’s house and tells her about the dead man and the weird reflection. Tina wonders if Niki’s husband D.L. is involved but Niki isn’t sure and decides to run.

Mohinder meets with the neighbor woman, Eden, and discuss his father’s murder. Eden is familiar with Chandra’s theories as they discussed it occasionally, and Mohinder figures he was killed because of his research.

The sheriff talks to Claire’s class and has the firefighter at the scene try to pick out the person who was at the fire. He starts to identify Claire but Jackie steps forward and takes the credit. Later, Zach finally gets to Claire and tells her the tape is missing… right before she gets knocked over by the football captain, Brady, and gets her neck broken. Fortunately, she heals before Brady can come over to help.

Niki and Micah go back home and she finds that someone ha cleaned up the garage. She finds a keychain with her name and spots her reflection in the mirror. Again acting independently, it directs her to a Cadillac convertible across the street. The keys fit and the registration shows that Niki rented it several months ago, even though she doesn’t remember doing so. There’s a note that tells her to check the trunk and follow the map. In the trunk are the garbage-bagged bodies of Linderman’s men and a map with a route on it.

Peter is in his hospital bed, sketching crude drawings of one figure flying and another one with a tie standing nearby. Angela Petrelli comes into the room and they talk about what happens, and she mentions that their father had similar delusions of grandeur and eventually committed suicide.

Hiro goes to the address in the comic, and finds the door unlocked. He finds paintings of the symbols, an unfinished page from 9th Wonders!… and Isaac’s corpse. The top of its head is missing and the brain is gone. The police barge in and Hiro faints.

In Los Angeles, police officer Matt Parkman is securing the scene of a double serial killing and abduction. Matt hears a little girl’s voice calling out for help and goes inside to trace it. An agent, Audrey Hanson, arrives and mentions a similar case in Barstow, and the fact a man named Sylar is responsible. The corpses are of a wife and husband: the husband is frozen solid and his brain is missing, while the wife is pinned to the wall with sharp objects. Matt finds the girl in a small room beneath the stairs.

At Chandra’s apartment, Mohinder and Eden check the answering machine and hear a conversation between Chandra and Sylar, and Sylar claims that he can’t control is “hunger.” Searching the place, Eden finds a flash drive hidden in a terrarium. They check it out and find an algorithm which Mohinder believes is the key his father developed to locating evolved heroes.

In LA, Matt is trying to explain to Audrey and another agent how he found the girl when none of them heard her. When he overhears the agents’ thoughts, he realizes that he has some form of telepathy. When he “hears” the name Sylar and says he’s responsible, they arrest him.

Niki follows the route on the map to a site in the desert, and starts burying the corpses. However, she finds a skull already there.

Claire comes home from school and her father is working on his laptop. He tells her that he contacted the adoption agency and has set up a meeting with her birth parents. After she leaves, Bennet goes back to watching a video on his laptop: the video of Claire testing her powers.

Peter meets Nathan and confronts him about what happened in the alley. Nathan finally admits that they both flew: he caught Peter, but when Peter slipped Peter flew on his own. Peter doesn’t believe him but when he walks toward Nathan he realizes that he’s floating above the rooftop, just like in his sketch.

The detectives are questioning Hiro at Isaac’s loft and don’t believe his claim that he teleported from Tokyo to New York. He has them call Ando, who says Hiro has been missing for five weeks. The detectives show Hiro a newspaper with a headline of “Petrelli Wins in Landslide” and a date of November 8. Suddenly there’s an explosion outside and they turn to the window to see a huge mushroom cloud heading their way. Concentrating, he teleports away… and finds himself back on the subway in Tokyo.
