Peter and Caitlin are at the bar after Ricky's murder. Peter figures the killer was looking for him and feels guilty for getting Ricky involved. He insists on not endangering Caitlin's life as well and prepares to go to Montreal. Caitlin insists on going with him, since the painting shows she's involved, and wants to find her brother's killer and get revenge.

Claire tries out for the Costa Verde cheerleading squad and does great in her performance, but Debbie overrides her lieutenants and forces them to go along with her as she dismisses Claire from consideration.

At the Company facility, Monica is demonstrating her abilities for Mohinder by duplicating the moves of a gymnast on TV. He admits there are others like her but her power is unique. Bob Bishop comes in and agrees, and he introduces himself as head of operations. He then talks to Mohinder and says the next step of testing is to inject Monica with the newest variation of the Shanti virus, which should disable her abilities. Mohinder insists that doing so represents an incredible risk, particularly if the virus spreads to the general population. Bob says it's necessary and orders Mohinder to inject the virus. Later alone, Mohinder calls Noah Bennet, and Noah tells him to inject the virus to maintain his cover.



Noah is in Odessa, Ukraine, with the Haitian. They wait until Ivan, a former Company operative, is alone and then come in and knock him out.

West talks to Claire in the lunch room and she explains that Debbie dismissed her as "ordinary. West says she needs to stand up for herself if no one else will.

In Mexico, Maya, Alejandro, and Sylar continue toward America in Claire's stolen car. While Alejandro sleeps, Maya admits she is afraid of her ability by Sylar is intrigued about it, and explains he once had abilities but he lost them so he needs Mohinder's help. Alejandro, waking up, says that just he and Maya should find someone to get them across the border into America illegally. Sylar insists on coming along and says he can get them across, and Maya insists he stay with them.

Ando talks to the technician Tatsuya who is working on Hiro's scrolls. At Ando's insistence they go back to the spot where they left off, at the day before Kensei prepared to attack Whitebeard's camp. In the past, Hiro insists that Yaeko stay behind but she refuses to abandon her father, saying she is as invulnerable as Kensei when she's with him. Hiro mentions where her father is based on his knowledge gained in the future, and when Kensei arrives to confirm it, Yaeko looks at Hiro suspiciously.

Noah handcuffs Ivan down and asks him about the eight Mendez paintings. Ivan insists that he's retired and knows nothing about them, and doesn't think Noah has anything to threaten him with. Nor can the Haitian read memories, just steal them. Noah concedes he's right but points out that the Haitian can rip out every one of Ivan's memories of his families, one at a time. Ivan doesn't believe him, insisting they were friends, but Noah has the Haitian takes Ivan's memory of his wedding day. Ivan still holds out and Noah gets a call from Claire, asking if she can borrow the car.



At the other end, Claire hangs up and West shows her a ski mask. Ivan offers Noah a chance to come back to the Company and spare Claire the life on the run. He claims the Company has changed and it can protect them all.

The trio in Mexico get to the border and Sylar directs them to an opening in the fence. They start to drive through but armed vigilantes with the Citizen Border Control surround them.



Mohinder prepares to inject Monica with the virus, saying it's a standard shot. She winces in pain and Mohinder prepares to inject her... and stops. He confronts Bob and says he's refusing to experiment on Monica. When Bob says they'll find someone else and they have plenty of the virus, Mohinder destroys the cabinet containing the virus ampoules and says he's taking Molly and leaving.



The CBC harasses the trio and Maya starts to panic, crying the black tears. Sylar stops Alejandro from intervening and the CBC men collapse. Sylar starts to feel the effects as well and he tells Maya to drive on.

Debbie is at night practice with the cheerleaders and putting the new members through their initiation, while drinking form a hidden bottle. Claire arrives and gets her off in private, then offers to do her homework in return for one more audition. Debbie refuses, and then a masked West flies in, picks up Claire, lifts her up about 30' feet, and drops her on the stairs. Claire is clearly dead, and West chases Debbie away. Debbie brings back the authorities, but Claire's body has disappeared. Debbie tries to explain but Claire walks up, unharmed, and denies ever being there. The police find Debbie's bottle of booze.



Hiro, Kensei, and Yaeko sneak into Whitebeard's camp to find her father. Kensei lets himself be stabbed by a guard so that he can knock the man out, and then they find Yaeko's father. He insists they need to destroy the guns that he was forced to make ion return for Yaeko's safety. Hiro insists that Kensei must stop Whitebeard from conquering Japan and they start to free Yaeko's father.

Bob comes to visit Mohinder as he watches over the comatose Molly. He apologizes to Mohinder, saying that he was out of line and they want Mohinder as a member not just for his scientific skills, but as a moral compass. Mohinder reluctantly agrees and Bob says he wants to introduce him to someone who will reassure his concerns.

Hiro and the others start to escape from the camp, but Hiro is forced to teleport Yaeko away to save her from a bullet. They appear outside the camp and Yaeko wonders what happened. Hiro tries to cover but she realizes that he has been responsible for much of what's been going on. She wants to know if Hiro loves her, and he admits his feelings for her. She realizes that it's Hiro she's loved all along and starts to kiss him. Hiro freezes time and worries briefly about how this could affect the future, but then kisses her anyway. Kensei arrives unnoticed and sees Hiro kissing his love.

In the present, Ando reads of how the kiss fractured time, but the scrolls end at that part of the story.



Across the border, Alejandro fights with Sylar over how he had Maya kill the men. Maya separates them, insisting she did what she had to do. Alejandro says she must choose between him and Sylar, but she insists that she needs both of them to get to Mohinder. Alejandro reluctantly agrees, but insists that the next time he won't neutralize her abilities to save Sylar. As Maya goes to get a first aid kit for Sylar, Sylar speaks in English (which Alejandro says) and brags of how he plans to kill both of them and take their abilities.

Claire tells West that she's concerned they may get caught, but West tells her not to worry. May shows up to tell Claire that Debbie's been suspended for drinking and that they want Claire on the cheerleading squad.

Noah tells the Haitian to remove Ivan's memories of his dead daughter, and Ivan breaks. He tells them the location of the painting in a train yard, then asks what they plan to do with him. Noah admits that if they wipe Ivan's memories of the encounter, the Company will realize what happened. He pulls out a gun and prepares to shoot Ivan. Ivan says that if Noah kills him, there's no going back. Noah says he knows, and kills the Russian.



In the past, Hiro finds Kensei, and the latter says he saw Hiro kissing Yaeko. Hiro tries to convince Kensei to continue with his quest and Kensei agrees... then knocks Hiro unconscious. Whitebeard and his men ride up, with Yaeko and her father captive. Whitebeard agrees to give Kensei anything he wants, and Kensei looks at Hiro.

Bob takes Monica to her home in New Orleans and provides her with the cover story for her absence. He gives her a Video iPod with video files of different skills and suggests that New Orleans could use her skills.



Mohinder meets with Niki, who says she's his new partner. She's there to reassure Mohinder the Company has his best interests at heart.

Noah and the Haitian find the last six Mendez paintings and place them in order. The paintings are of a vial, an angry blonde woman, Hiro and Kensei sword fighting, Mohinder with a bandage on his nose firing a gun, and Noah laying dead with a bullet through the eye, while Claire and West stand over his body.



Peter and Caitlin arrive in Montreal and find a door with the symbol over it from Peter's painting. They find a chamber containing various historical artifacts, and a mirror with a note on it from Adam. The note says that Adam and Peter were right and the Company poses a danger to the entire world. Peter doesn't remember any of this and wonders about the future, and as he does so he teleports himself and Caitlin to New York City... where the streets are empty. They find an evacuation notice and realize that they moved forward in time to June 14, 2008.
