I Am Become Death - Recap

Mohinder is working in his laboratory when he notices that he's suffering from an odd rash. Thanks to his heightened senses, he hears his neighbors arguing. He knocks on the door and the wife answers, bruised and in tears. Her husband tries to slam the door in Mohinder's face but he grabs the neighbor and smashes him into a wall. The wife, upset, asks Mohinder to leave.

Dr. Zimmerman explains to Tracy that she was one of three triplets: her sisters are Niki and Barbara. Their parents died and the three sisters were separated. He explains that he was hired by a company to manipulate their DNA, giving them special abilities. When he claims not to remember the company's name, Tracy grabs him and starts to use her powers to freeze his arm. She manages to calm down and stop before she can hurt him.



In Africa, Usutu places the headphones on Matt and gives him the special food. Matt's eyes go white and he starts to see the future.

Future Peter takes Peter four years into the future and they appear in an alleyway. Peter doesn’t think things look different... until they step out on the street and see people casually flying back and forth. Future Peter warns that the world will soon be destroyed because of all the people with abilities and Peter has to stop it from occurring in his time. Future Peter admits that he's confused the timelines too much to stop it from his viewpoint in the future. He tells Peter that he needs to go to Sylar and get his help. However, Claire and the Haitian arrive. Claire shoots Future Peter in the head, bringing him down. Peter runs off.



Future Claire meets with Daphne and Knox and explains that there's a Peter from the past that they have to kill. Claire tells Daphne to have Molly locate Peter. Daphne is reluctant even when Knox threatens to go get Molly himself. Claire warns that they need to find Peter because he'll never stop otherwise.

In the present, Hiro and Ando are locked in a Level 2 holding cell at Primatech. An angry Ando, remembering how Hiro said he didn't need him, refuses to help Hiro escape. Hiro admits he's reluctant to trust Hiro based on seeing Future Ando kill Future Hiro. Ando insists that he wouldn't hurt Hiro, but admits he's starting to understand why his future self would.



Nathan is choosing furniture and asks his aide about where Tracy is. Linderman appears and suggests a desk to choose, but Nathan selects another one. Nathan wonders if he's seeing Linderman because of brain damage caused by the shooting, but Linderman suggests that he's an angel. Nathan doesn't believe it but Linderman insists that he's there to lead Nathan on his path to become President.

Maya returns to Mohinder's lab and tries to clean up. An irritable Mohinder snaps at her, saying he's been working 24/7 to cure. Maya goes despite Mohinder's attempt to apologize, and he notes in his recorder that his new ability's side effects include a rash and increased aggression. He puts the recorder down on the lab table...

....and in the future, Peter arrives in the laboratory. A hooded Mohinder sneaks up on him and Peter wonders what happened to him. Future Mohinder says that he got the formula wrong. Peter tries to ask him about Sylar's ability but Mohinder warns that it's dangerous. Peter reads his mind and finds out Sylar's location in Costa Verde. Mohinder warns him not to go but Peter teleports there.



Peter arrives at the house and finds a child who recognizes him and calls him "Uncle Peter." Peter follows the child inside and finds Sylar feeding Mr. Muggles. Sylar, surprised, hugs Peter and says that it's been a while. Sylar's son, Noah, wonders where Peter's scar is. Sylar, catching on, asks Noah to go into the other room. They talk and Sylar explains that the two of them are brothers, and that Peter had to travel from the past to find out. Sylar refuses to help Peter. Peter tries to read his mind but Sylar is immune. Peter warns that Future Claire and the others are coming for him. Sylar insists that Peter call him "Gabriel" and warns that there's a hunger for more power that comes with his ability, and it continues to grow. The hunger made him a killer, but he manages to restrain it for the sake of his son Noah. Peter says that he needs the power to save the world and fix the future, and tells Sylar to do a prophetic painting if he doesn't believe. Sylar reluctantly agrees, asking Peter to make sure Noah doesn't seem him using his abilities.



Elsewhere in the future, Matt is holding a baby and insists that Daphne, his wife, can't use Molly because Peter is too dangerous. Daphne says that once they find Peter, it'll all be over. Matt insists that they're trying to raise Molly as a normal child and shouldn't put her at risk. Matt calls Molly in and says that her mother needs to speak to her. A bit later Daphne comes out and informs Future Claire where Peter is. Claire figures he's with Sylar and Knox, sensing her fear, wonders what she's afraid of since she's indestructible. She wants a few minutes to recover from killing her uncle before doing it again, but Knox warns that he and Daphne can get hurt and she needs to straighten up.

In Costa Verde, Sylar finishes his painting showing the world cracking open. He takes his watch and gives it to Peter, saying he needs to learn how to fix it to access Sylar's ability. Peter listens to it and uses his telekinesis to repair it, while Sylar explains that if he can fix it, he can fix the world. Peter finishes fixing the watch and Sylar apologizes for giving him the hunger. They hear Noah yelling in the other room and go out to find Knox and Daphne there, holding Noah hostage. Future Claire pulls out a gun and says that if Peter goes with them, no one will be hurt. Sylar tells Peter to escape back to his own time but Peter says that he brought them there and it's his responsibility. He asks what happened to Claire and she says that Sylar took everything from her and now she knows how to protect herself. Peter attacks her and Daphne attacks him, knocking him back with her speed. Knox attacks Sylar, feeding on Noah's fear. In the fight, Knox smashes a table into Noah, killing him. A furious Sylar starts to glow with radioactive energy, while Peter manages to knock Daphne unconscious with his telekinesis. Claire prepares to shoot Sylar but he explodes in a blast of nuclear energy, wiping Costa Verde off the map.



In the present at Primatech, Ando finally offers to help but Hiro refuses his assistance. Ando insists and they fight, and Ando ends up with the belt Hiro was using to hook the overhead vent. Ando hooks it and tells Hiro to leave. Hiro needs Ando's help one last time and asks him to give him a boost. Ando obliges and Hiro apologizes, saying he's going to change. As he climbs up, the Haitian enters the room.

Tracy is at home reading about the missing reporter. She calls the police to talk to the investigating officer, but begins to lose control of her powers and freezes the telephone.

In the present, Mohinder notes that he can't undo his own ability or Maya's. As he puts his hand on the table, he notices it sticking as he exudes a substance from his pores. The neighbor husband knocks on the door and punches Mohinder when he answers it. The man says that Mohinder should have minded his own business, and Mohinder grabs the man and yanks him into the laboratory.



As Nathan finishes praying, Tracy arrives at his office. She says that she knows what she has to do and resigns. Linderman appears and says that Tracy needs him. Tracy goes to a bridge and jumps to her death, but Nathan flies up and catches her. They go to Tracy's apartments and she wonders about his ability, and then shows him her ability to freeze things. The two of them kiss.

In the future, Nathan is President of the U.S. and Tracy is his first lady. They give a press conference in front of the Pinehearst Company. Peter is confined in a lab next to his dead future self. Claire and the Haitian are there and the Haitian keeps Peter from teleporting away. Claire takes a scalpel and explains that Peter will feel the pain of the 200,000 people who died in Costa Verde because of him. She cuts his chest once for the first person, and Peter begs her to let him go so he can return to his time and stop it from happening. She ignores him and cuts him second time, but Nathan arrives and tells her to stop. He has Claire and the Haitian step out, leaving them alone. Nathan releases Peter and says that everyone has to do their part to save the world. Peter thinks he's being manipulated and Nathan invites him to read his mind. Peter starts to read Nathan's emotions and says that he's wrong, and insists he needs to understand. He slams Nathan against the wall and starts to telekinetically slice Nathan's skull open, then draws back in horror. As the Secret Service men call out to Nathan, Peter teleports back to the present and Sylar's cell at Primatech.



Sylar recognizes Peter and the two fight. Peter explains how he went to the future to gain Sylar's ability. Sylar warns that now he has the hunger too and they're alike. Peter insists they're not but Sylar calls him brother.

In the present, Matt is still seeing the vision of himself in the future, comforting Molly as they watch the destruction of Costa Verde on television. Molly blames herself for telling Daphne where Peter was. There's a knock on the door and Matt answers it to find Daphne, who says she wasn't fast enough. She collapses into his arms, revealing massive burns on his back.

In the present, Matt snaps out of his trance to see that Usutu has created several new paintings. He goes to the painting of himself and Daphne and says he needs to find her. Usutu says that he will need a guide and must find his totem, which is normally an animal. Matt turns and sees a turtle, and starts to follow it.



Hiro and Ando meet with Angela. She asks where Kaito's half of the formula is, and explains that it can give normal people powers. When Hiro reveals it was stolen, Angela realizes that "they" have both halves. She says that Kaito had great faith in Hiro but that he failed his father by losing the half of the formula. Hiro begins to apologize but Ando insists that Hiro will do the right thing and save the world. Angela explains that Hiro holds the key to saving them all and finding out who is manipulating them. Hiro has an idea of who they can go to for help.

In Japan, Hiro and Ando dig up a coffin. Ando wonders if it's a good idea but Hiro says they don't have any other choice. They open the coffin to reveal... Adam Monroe. He reaches up and grabs Hiro by the neck, swearing.
