Hiro travels back in time to determine what forced Arthur Petrelli to fake his death and create Pinehearst. in the past, he also witnesses Thompson's protege Meredith deal with her brother, and Sylar make a discovery about his powers.

Hiro collapses into a trance after eating Usutu’s food. He finds himself looking back into the past, 18 months ago, where Arthur Petrelli is introducing his sons and wife at a party. Linderman is there to offer his congratulations and then talks to Nathan about his investigation into Linderman’s affairs. Nathan tells him to be ready for arrest and walks off. Linderman asks Arthur what he’s reading from Nathan’s mind, and Linderman warns that Nathan could realize that Arthur is behind everything Linderman has been doing.
