In Building 26 in Washington, D.C., Nathan Petrelli calls an unidentified person and talks about what happened in Arkansas 43 hours ago when Claire got the plane and helped the prisoners to escape. However, the plane crashed, breaking apart on impact...

The Past

Commandos chase after Hiro, who falls into a ravine where Mohinder and Matt are waiting. They all hide and the assault troops miss them. Hiro admits that he's lost his powers and can't do anything, and Mohinder suggests they go back and join the others. Matt warns them that the assault troops are ready and waiting, then walks off, his eyes turning white with a prophetic vision.

Noah finds Peter and Claire together and tries to explain to his daughter that she doesn't understand how complicated the situation is. He prepares to shoot Peter but Claire convinces him to lower the gun. Peter runs off but Claire stays with her father and warns him that he and the others won't get away with this once news of the crash becomes public. Noah tells her there's nothing to worry about and missiles slam down into the wreckage, obliterating it.

The next morning, the lead hunter, Danko, talks to Nathan and insists that they handled the matter appropriately and it was Claire that messed things up. Nathan insists that they're not assassins, and that he'll deal with Claire.

Peter locates Tracy, who insists all she wants to do is go back to her normal life. Peter warns her that Nathan isn't going to permit that and they escape.

The white-eyed Matt guides Mohinder and Hiro to a camper. Matt sees the vision of Usutu goes inside the camper and goes in after him. He comes out with colored pencils and paper and sits down at a table to sketch. Mohinder takes some clothing from a clothesline to replace their orange jumpsuits.

Ando is in Tokyo trying to purchase tickets to Arkansas, where he's located Hiro via GPS. Daphne arrives and says that Matt disappeared, and she came looking for Hiro to get help. Ando reveals that Hiro disappeared as well and they figure the two disappearances are connected. Daphne grabs Ando and superspeeds away.

As they put on new clothing, Mohinder tells Hiro that he should turn himself in since he no longer has powers. Hiro refuses, saying that his is the way of the warrior and he won't abandon his friends. Matt has finished his drawings: one is Daphne at the crash site being shot, and another features Hiro and Claire in India. Realizing she's in danger, Matt runs back to the crash site.

In Newark, New Jersey, Luke Campbell and his mother Mary are walking home past the taxidermist shop of Samson Gray. The authorities have cordoned off the shop. As they arrive home Mary wonders why Luke attacked a kid and ended up juvenile hall overnight. Luke claims that the boy called Mary a whore. They go inside and find a man pinned to the chair by knives through his hands. Mary grabs a poker and confronts the man, who is raw and bloody. Sylar walks casually into the room and uses his telekinesis to disarm her, then slams both Campbells into chairs. He ungags the man, Simmons, one of the government soldiers. Sylar says that since Simmons refuses to tell Sylar about his father under torture, now he's going to torture the Campbells.

Ando and Daphne arrive in Arkansas and find Claire. Ando wonders if Hiro is dead, but Daphne points out that he if he's destined to kill Hiro in the future, then Hiro can't be dead now. She goes into the camp to find him.

One of the soldiers on patrol finds another soldier down. Tracy distracts him and Peter knocks him out and starts to take his uniform. As he works, Peter explains that he can now only duplicate one power at a time. Peter plans to capture Nathan and get him out, but Tracy says she has a better idea.

Noah takes Claire back to the main tent and she wants to know what his involvement is. He tells her that he's made arrangements to safeguard her, Sandra, and Lyle, and she has no idea what the stakes are. Claire says that she and Nathan both have abilities. Nathan arrives and insists that he's dealing with a major threat. Disgusted, she tells him not to bother trying to explain and wonders how they've both changed. Noah pulls Nathan off to discuss privately how Danko is overreacting to the threat. Nathan assures him that Danko has his uses, but will be eliminated once they're done with him. Daphne speeds into the tent, frees Claire, and escapes before the others can do anything. Nathan warns Noah that Claire is running out of favors, but Noah warns him that Nathan's own powers make him politically vulnerable.

Mohinder, Hiro, and Matt find Ando and Daphne and Claire arrive. Daphne can't take them all away and she starts to leave to recon the area. A soldier shoots her down, and others arrive and open fire. Claire shields the others, regenerating the wounds, and Matt takes mental control of one soldier and turns him against the others. Danko arrive and captures Claire as the other escape.

Simmons finally tells Sylar that his father Samson is in custody, but Sylar uses is lie detection to figure he isn't telling the truth. Sylar starts torturing Mary, telekinetically choking her, then casually talks to Luke. He's gone through their mail and knows that Luke's father abandoned him. He knows that Luke is filled with rage and doesn't love his mother. Luke snaps and fires a blast of microwave energy from his hand, shattering Sylar's coffee mug. Sylar smiles and says they need to talk.

Danko returns Claire to the base camp and threatens to shoot her in the back of the head. Nathan stops him and Noah takes her away. Noah warns Claire that Danko will do whatever it takes to stop them, and that she needs to go home and live the normal life she always wanted. As they leave, Danko expresses his contempt for Nathan, warning that it was clear that the prisoners would never just peacefully go along with Nathan's plans. Now some of Danko's men are dead, and he's not happy. He acknowledges that Nathan is in command for now, but if things go wrong then Nathan's political career is finished. Nathan gets a call from Tracy. He talks to her privately and she offers to trade Peter for amnesty and a return to her old life. They set up a meeting place for that night. As Tracy hangs up, she tells Peter that Nathan is coming.

Sylar has Luke demonstrate his ability to fire microwaves. He wonders if it's a coincidence that Luke has powers and lived near Samson Gray. Using his lie detection power, Sylar knows that Luke is lying about the fact that the kid in the fight called Mary a whore, and that he uses drugs. Sylar says that he understands Luke because they have the same thing: the will to use their power. Mary tries to sway Luke away from Sylar's words. They're interrupted when Simmons manages to free himself and goes for his gun. When Luke sees him aim at Sylar, he fires microwave energy and boils Simmons' blood and tissue, killing him. Mary stares at him in horror.

Sylar leaves and Luke trails after him. The boy wants Sylar to take him along and points out he saved his life. Sylar says he's being generous and letting Luke live. Luke says he knows where Samson is and this time he's telling the truth. Sylar agrees and they take Mary's car.

Peter and Tracy wait at a building and Tracy reluctantly prepares to use her powers to capture Nathan. He arrives and she approaches him, and Nathan insists that his offer is still good even though he knows it's a trap. He warns that Peter is unpredictable and that Nathan's plan will eliminate unpredictability. Peter approaches and demands to know what he's telling Tracy. Suddenly laser dots appear on Tracy and Peter: Noah and Danko have come along. Peter grabs Nathan as a shield and a hostage. Danko tells Noah to fire but Noah warns he doesn't have a clear shot. Peter takes Nathan's power and flies off and the soldiers capture Tracy. As Danko leaves, Nathan thanks Noah for not shooting Peter.

Peter meets with the others and they go over Matt's drawings. Mohinder recognizes the building in the India sketch. Hiro realizes that he has a new destiny: to get his powers back. Mohinder, seeing a sketch of himself and Matt armed with guns, wonders about their destiny. Matt insists that it's not about justice: he wants revenge for Daphne. Peter sums it up, saying that they're on the run and their lives are over. Now they have no choice but to fight back and will have to do whatever it takes.

Sylar and Luke drive away.

Claire is back in Costa Verde when Sandra comes in. As far as Sandra knows, Claire has been scouting colleges. Claire says that she plans to stay at home and get a part-time job for now, news that Sandra is happy to hear. She leaves, and Claire gets a text message from someone telling her to "Rebel" and that she can still fight back. Claire sends a message back and the other person says that he or she is a friend, and Claire needs to be ready to fight.

The Present, Building 26

Nathan finishes talking with the other person: his mother Angela. He wants her to let him know when Peter comes to visit her, as he eventually will. Angela says that's not really why Nathan called, and figures that he's looking for absolution. She refuses to give it to him, saying that he abandoned her to work with the government to confine their own kind. As she goes over Danko's personnel file, she says that he'll have to work with the government because she won't help him.

Nathan's analyst arrives and says that they're ready. Nathan goes to see Tracy, who is being kept in a cell. He tells her that although it's not their fault, people with powers are simply too unpredictable to be counted on to do the right thing. She yells that he's one of them, but Nathan orders the soldiers to drug her as he leaves.
