<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
In Costa Verde, Eric Doyle confronts Claire as she comes into the Bennets' kitchen. He tells her that Rebel sent him to her to get help. Claire tells him to leave but Doyle begs her for help so that he can go back to making people happy. Sandra comes into the kitchen and is also not thrilled to see Doyle. She warns them that the agents are outside, but Doyle explains that Rebel lured them away with a fake phone alert. When Doyle wonders why they haven't arrested Claire, Claire admits that she has an exemption and Doyle points out she's abandoning her own kind. He snaps and takes control of both of their bodies, and says he hates being hunted and then having to come to her for help. As a single tear drips down his face, Doyle releases them and says that he no longer wants to harm others. He bids them goodbye and leaves.

Nathan confronts Danko over the fact he tried to kill Peter. Danko insists he made the right call and then wonders who knew that Peter was there and could stage a rescue. Nathan is informed that Matt has been spotted at the Capital and has a bomb strapped to his chest. Nathan walks up to the roof while Danko watches him suspiciously.

The police move in to arrest Matt, ignoring his warning that he was set up and has no idea how to defuse the bomb. Nathan arrives and agrees to meet with Matt. He admits that Danko set things up on his own and invites Matt to read his mind and confirm it. Matt warns that the drugs Danko gave him are blocking his telepathy.

Danko is at the Building 26 command center when he gets word that Nathan is there. He orders his analyst to set off the explosion but someone is blocking the router. As the analyst tries to find an alternate router, Noah arrives. At the Capital, Nathan tells Matt to read the minds of the bomb squad men and try to find a way to defuse the bomb. Matt manages to overcome the drug and figure out the right wire to pull. He throws away the bomb and Nathan punches him unconscious, and then turns him over to the police.

Sylar goes to Luke's address and finds a cabin in the woods. He goes inside and finds an elderly man stuffing animals. Sylar introduces himself and Samson casually wonders what he wants. Sylar says he's there for answers and admits he's finally remembered that Samson killed his wife and abandoned his son. When Sylar threatens to kill him, Samson tells him to go ahead because he's dying of cancer anyway, and reveals he's using an oxygen tank.

Nathan returns to Building 26 and confronts Danko, insisting Matt wasn't a threat. Danko insists that Matt is a terrorist but Nathan tries to relieve him. Danko ignores his order, saying Nathan will have to go to the President and prove Danko put the explosives on Matt and endangered the public. Nathan meets with Noah to discuss what to do once Danko is gone. They're interrupted when Danko plays a recording of Tracy accusing Nathan of being one of "us." He assures Nathan that he'll be putting together his own case for the President.

Tracy is brought to Building 26 in manacles. Drugged partially unconscious, she sees a security monitor that flashes a message from rebel saying that help is on the way. Nathan learns that Danko plans to interrogate Tracy, but Noah warns him not to overreact. Nathan goes to see Tracy in her cell and says that he's the same person who saved her when she leaped off a bridge. She doesn't believe him but Nathan claims he's trying to help everyone. Danko arrives and Nathan tells him to do whatever he wants with Tracy. Danko interrogates Tracy, demanding to know about Nathan. She denies knowing anything about Nathan or that he has an ability.

At home, Claire wonders if she should help Doyle. Sandra insists she did the right thing but Claire decides she should be helping others. She decides to work at the comic book store where Alex was employed. The owner points out she doesn't have much experience but is impressed she was a cheerleader. He notices that the other male teenage customers are staring at her. He asks her what powers and what type of hero she prefers. She admits she doesn't know and figures she didn't get the job, but the owner tells her that she's hired.

Samson waits for Sylar to kill him but admits that he won't fight back. When Sylar balks, Samson releases a rabbit from a cage and then sedates it with a power. He tells a surprised Sylar that he has the same intuitive aptitude and can't even remember what powers he has. Samson points out that the two of them are similar: they prey on the weak. Samson mocks Sylar for not disposing of the agents who have been following him, and then tells him that one day Sylar will realize there's no challenge and he'll lose any meaning in his life. Samson asks his son if he wants to know more. Sylar hesitates, and then takes Samson's knife. Samson invites him to gut the rabbit so they can stuff it and Sylar kills it.

As Danko goes over the videotape of someone rescuing Peter, he asks Noah if he ever dealt with specials with flight. He figures Nathan is hiding something but Noah suggests that Angela is the one with a motive to save her son. Danko goes to see Angela and Noah calls to warn her that Nathan is moving too fast, and he sent Danko to her so she could handle the man.

As Claire leaves after her first day at work, she spots Rachel Cole and her partner Jason watching her. She calls Noah and asks how he managed to juggle two lives. He tells her he's not the person to ask and wonders if she wants the answer that will make her feel better, or the truth. She admits she doesn't know and he says he doesn't either. Claire notices Rachel and Jason driving away and gets a text message from Rebel saying they've located Doyle.

Rachel chases Doyle into an alleyway. Exhausted, he still manages to take control of her and considers forcing her to shoot himself. He finally refuses, saying he just wants a normal life. He knocks her out but Jason arrives and prepares to shoot him. Claire knocks him out.

Danko meets Angela in a fancy restaurant. He wonders if Nathan might have inherited an ability from her. Angela denies it, saying it must have skipped a generation. Danko doesn’t believe her. In response, Angela brings up the operation in 1997 Angola operation where civilians were killed. Danko backs off and notes she's a resourceful woman, then leaves.

Samson advises Sylar that he needs to find a hobby and Sylar talks about his watch repair skills. He admits he doesn't remember why he abandoned Sylar or killed his wife. As Sylar guts the rabbit, he cuts his hand on the knife. The wound heals and Samson is surprised for the first time. They finish stuffing the animal and Samson tells Sylar to put it on the shelf. As soon as Sylar turns his back, Samson uses telekinesis to pin his son to the wall with arrows. Samson tells the surprised Sylar that he wants his regeneration ability so that he can cure the cancer. When Sylar starts to fight back, Samson sedates him and explains that once he's healed himself, he plans to do everything over again. Sylar reveals that he was playing possum and telekinetically strangles Samson with his own oxygen tube. As he frees himself, Samson begs to examine his brain to acquire the power, noting Sylar will heal. Sylar refuses, saying he's learned what he needs to. When Samson begs for death, Sylar tells him that he will die: alone, in agony. Sylar leaves, taking the stuffed rabbit with him.

Nathan gives Danko orders from the President relieving him of duty. Danko can't believe it but none of his people will support him. He warns that someday Nathan's friends will abandon him and Danko will be waiting. Once he's gone, Nathan tells Noah that he'll be taking over as the new head field operative. As they go to the elevator, Noah starts to talk about his plan. Danko is waiting and draws a gun on Nathan. He shoots the window behind Nathan and then shoves him out. Nathan uses his power to avoid falling and soars away. Danko asks Noah if he knew.

Claire visits Doyle in the park and gives him identity papers created by Rebel. She insists that it's about her, not him. Doyle leaves but Claire asks him if he meant about changing for the better. Doyle just smiles sadly and leaves.

A depressed Samson is sitting in his cabin and smoking.

Danko arrives home and finds a stuffed rabbit on his desk. He's unaware that Sylar is waiting for him.
