With a total eclipse making its way across the globe, a professor, Mohinder Suresh, learns of his father's death. Upon hearing the news, Mohinder travels to New York where he begins to uncover a secret theory involving eight individuals, all different ages and all from different backgrounds, who discover that they each have been granted unique super powers. A young male nurse tries to convince his brother that he can fly; a struggling, single mother discovers she can be in two places at once; a high school cheerleader tests her indestructibility; a drug-addicted artist paints events before they happen; and a Japanese man begins to develop his ability to stop time. Though all these heroes live in different parts of the globe and have unique abilities, they all have one thing in common -- their destiny is to save the world.

Hiro travels to New York while Peter and Nathan talk about Peter's fall. Claire's ability is at risk to be revealed to the entire school when she finds that the tape of her injury attempt is missing. Niki finds the dead thugs in her garage, but has no memory of the incident, leading her to think that she's going crazy. Meanwhile, policeman Matt Parkman realizes he can hear people's thoughts.

Meanwhile, as Peter reaches out to another hero in order to learn more about their destiny, Claire's abilities are put to the limit after the bonfire. Elsewhere, one of Issac's paintings reveals that Claire's future may be in danger and Matt has a run-in with two mysterious men.

Niki's father drops by for a surprise visit, which brings out the worst in her. Claire tries out for the cheerleading squad and makes a surprising discovery about herself while H.R.G. and the Haitian meet someone special.

Volume II of Heroes begins as Peter, Nathan and Matt's fates are revealed.
