After witnessing his father's suicide a year early, a boy moves with his mother and new stepfather to Palm Springs. Having developed both drug and attitude problems since the suicide, his parents think its time for a change of sceniery. Once there, he quickly learns the ins and outs of small town life from his next door neighbor. But when he finds a mysterious girl running in the sprinklers on the golf course behind his home he learns that not everything is as it seems. Meanwhile, two neighbors fight over property lines, as one's daughter develops a crush on the new boy.

| This is the third new series to premiere on The CW, the first being the short-lived Runaway and the second being the reality series Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll.
| The series was originally called Palm Springs, but the name was changed after The CW picked up the show.
| This episode was filmed on location in Palm Springs. But due to high production costs, subsequent episodes were filmed in Phoenix, Arizona.

| Cast members Taylor Handley (Johnny Miller), Michael Cassidy (Cliff Wiatt), and Amber Heard (Greta) all have guest starred on FOX's The OC. Handley guest starred as Oliver Trask during season 1, Cassidy guest starred as Zach Stephens during season 2, and Heard guest starred in "The Mallpisode" as a salesgirl.

Cliff: I'm in eleventh.
Johnny: Yeah, I should be but I'm in tenth.

Nina: Really?
Helen: I was shocked too.

Blair: (to Karen) I'm the mayor's wife. She can't touch me.
