News of the tunnel collapse reaches the hospital, where the staff struggle with their work not knowing if their friends and colleagues are dead or alive. However, the medics inside the tunnel are virtually unaffected by the collapse. But as Nick and Charlie continue to argue over the treatment of their patients, Woody struggles to free himself from the lorryload of sand that almost buried him. Outside, it finally looks like a rescue is imminent - but when the emergency services are told that dangerous chemicals are leaking into the tunnel, the fumes from which are slowly overcoming those inside, it becomes a desperate race against time.
