Sisterhood of the Traveling Spanx - Recap

The scene opens with Joy lying on a couch talking about her life and she is talking to a fortune teller. The psyhic tells that she has something for Joy. A pair of Spanxs. She tells that they are magic spanxs and suddenly, “Cute Oliver” calls her and tells that he wants to meet with her on Saturday night. They fast forward to later that week and Joy has the Spanx and tells that they have given nothing but trouble. Elka comes in and tells that Cincinnati blows. Melanie tells that Elka needs to still be a fan. They tell Elka that they are burning the spanx and Elka asks what the girdle did to them. Joy tells that it is not a girdle, but “Spanx”, a form fitting material that makes you have a natural curve. Elka tells that she calls that a girdle and not what they do.

Elka sits down with them and Joy tells her side of the story of how the “Spanx” ruined everything. They flashback to earlier that week and Joy walks into Oliver’s house. He is dressed in a tux and tells that he got the babysitter’s number mixed with Joy’s and tells that he has a son now through her. He tells that he is going to be proposing to her tonight. He asks Joy to babysit his son and she reluctantly tells that she will. Oliver asks to practice the proposal with Joy and she is smitten by his words. Jacob comes in and Oliver tells that Jacob still wears pull-ups but only on his head at night. She tells that she is going to have fun.

Victoria tells her side where the “Spanx” didn’t do their magic the way it was supposed to and tells that she got a call from her agent and she was offered to audition with Melanie Griffith. However, she was casted as Melanie’s mother and she tells that she is not even close. They get into an argument and Victoria grabs Melanie’s hair and she tosses Victoria on the ground. This is after Victoria tried to act like an old woman. The camera man video tapes it all. Melanie tells that she wasn’t lucky either and tells that she was wearing them when she was at the bar eying a potential guy. A woman asks to sit next to her and she tells that she too has been eyeing a guy, but it is the bartender. She gives a note to Melanie to give to the bartender. He immediately empties his register and Melanie reads the note, the woman is robbing the bar. She knocks over a woman on her way out and the guy Melanie has been eyeing tells that he is a doctor and Melanie tells that she has something tight to stop the bleeding. She struggles to take off the “Spanx”

Back with Elka and the girls, Elka tells that it wasn’t the “spanx” doing that because Joy is easy, Victoria is vain and Melanie is gullible. Suddenly Victoria gets a phone call and the door rings. Melanie answers and it is the doctor that she was eyeing. He asks her on a date. Victoria comes in and tells that everyone has seen the video of Melanie Griffith and her fighting and has offered her a role in Days of Our Lives opposite Susan Luci. Joy pulls out a picture that Jacob, the little boy she babysat, and it is a picture of her smiling. She flashbacks and she is having a fun time and realizes that she wants to raise a baby. Elka tells that she would make a good mother without any sarcasm. Elka tells that she is too old and tells that it is her turn for the Spanx. Later, Joy is reading a pregnancy book and Elka is watching her favorite player hit homeruns. The commentator comments on his uniform and how he can’t see a line. Elka admits that she “spanxed” him.
