Elka's Snowbird - Recap

The scene opens with Victoria talking to a famer named Dave Selleck. She tells him that she is the reporter that says what everyone is thinking and asks if he ever takes off his shirt when it is hot. Dave tells that he doesn’t. She notices that there is not wedding ring on his finger and Dave offers to have Victoria try a cheery tomato. She opens her mouth and he puts it inside. She says that it is delicious. She ends the segment and tells Dave that she could have gone on forever with him. He feels the same way and asks Victoria to lunch. Two kids come in and Victoria tells them to run-along. Dave tells Victoria that they are his kids, Marcus and Annabel. Victoria tries to be nice, but they don’t like her. Dave walks in with a pitchfork and Annabel asks if that is his new hoe. She looks at Victoria and says that it sure looks like a hoe. Victoria is shocked at them.

She gets back to the house, and says that Dave’s kids are monsters. Victoria says that some people don’t like her right off the bat and Elka says sometimes six months. Joy doesn’t like to go out with do-gooders. Melanie suggests that Joy do community service to help get her Green Card. Elka gets a text from Max and says that he has a surprise for her. Melanie suggests Joy that they volunteer at the Senior Center and Joy tells that she hates old people. The doorbell rings and it is Max. He says that the women there are throwing themselves at him. She says that she can’t go to Florida. Max says that he will stay in Cleveland then. Victoria offers to take Max’s coat and he says that he will take it off in June.

Joy and Melanie get back from the Senior Center and Joy is exhausted. Melanie says that she is happy to help them out. Victoria says that the kids are evil and says that Dave and Victoria were going to go out when Annabel said that she had a “tummyache”. Victoria says that she talked to Dave for three hours. She says that she likes Dave and Melanie tells that she needs to get to know the children. Victoria asks about their day at the Senior Center and Joy says that it was awful whereas Melanie had a fun time. Melanie says that the food there is so unhealthy and that they could feed them healthy food. Victoria says that she could do a segment on it. This will give video proof of Joy’s good doing. Elka comes in with ice-skates and says that she is going to show that Max can have fun. She says that he will either have a good time or break a hip. Later, Victoria has dinner with the kids and Marcus asks if she is an alcoholic. She spills wine on her shirt and says a bad word. When Dave gets there, the kids use that against Victoria and curse in front of him. Victoria is at a loss of words.

Melanie is cooking the meal and gives Joy a taste. She says that it tastes like a hot garden. She says that it is healthy food for them and Joy says that Americans like beacon and other fatty things. Joy dumps her wine and a ton of salt in the herbal soup and stirs it. Melanie tries it and says that it is delicious. Elka comes in and asks Joy to try on mittens that she knitted for Max and says that she has “man hands”. They fit and Elka says that they are going to be too big for Max, but it will be alright. She walks over to Melanie’s “mach Macaroni and Cheese” and dumps a stick of butter in it and oil. Victoria comes in and she says that Dave’s kids undermined her and Victoria has a plan and says that on her show the ghost children couldn’t rest until they lived with their ghost mother. She meets with Dave’s ex-wife and suggests that the kids live with her permanently. She says that the kids need her. Max looks at the weather report in Florida and Elka tells that it is too cold for Max. Elka sets Max “free” and Melanie runs up to Elka and says that Max will be back in the spring. She realizes that she wants to go to Florida with Max. She opens the door and Max is there and she tells him that she is going with him.

Victoria does her segment with Melanie and Joy and she has a nutritionist tell that the food is high in fat and is not healthy. Melanie is shocked because Joy added things. Joy tells Victoria that she can’t air it and Victoria says that she will pixilate their faces. Victoria goes to Dave and tells him that he makes her want to be a better person and says that she isn’t going to air a segment that would have helped her career, but would have hurt a friend. Dave says that he is going back to his ex-wife and give it another try. It is because of the talk Victoria had with his ex-wife. She is heartbroken, but says that it is fine. Marcus and Annabel run in and hug Victoria. Annabel tells Victoria that if she ever comes near her dad again, she is dead.

Later, Melanie tries to convince Joy for another volunteer work, but Joy is not interested. Victoria says that she can’t do any volunteer work because she has a “tummyache”. Elka comes in and says that she officially hates Florida. They ask where Max is and she says that it is over between them because it is clear that Max is not ready to get over his dead wife because there are pictures and clothes of hers all over the condo. Victoria says that she and Dave are done too and says that he went back to his 1st wife. Elka says that the first wives get you every time.
