Happy Fat - Recap

The scene opens with Joy running in and asking Melanie and Victoria if they know the neighbor who looks at them as if she wants to kill them. They start to call out the nicknames that they have for the women that live around them. Melanie says that they need to get to know the names of their neighbors. Joy says that it is “judgey-face” and she is armed. Melanie doesn’t believe her until she sees the woman with a pair of pruning shears. She points her shears at joy and tells her that she dropped her mail and then picked it up while she is in her short shorts. She tells her that there are children around. She tells them that their husbands stare at them because of their Hollywood looks and sleeveless clothing. Victoria is happy that the husbands stare and “judgey-face” Kim tells them to make her more like them. She says that she wants to change and they agree to that. She leaves and the girls feel that they are awesome and like to give back.

Elka and Roy come in and they are deaf from the motorcycle. They go out on the porch for privacy, but they are shouting and Melanie, Victoria and Joy can hear them. Later, the girls get the supplies together. Elka says that Roy is a dare-devil and that he wants to do the biggest and best thing when they are going out. They tell her that she has to keep Roy thinking that they are the same age and says that she has to make sure that it is a good even number so that she can add and subtract easily. Kim comes over with other moms, Pam and Sally. They tell them that their husbands have gawking at them. Pam tells Melanie that she remembers her. Kim says that they call Melanie “Goes to one Garage Sale”. Melanie doesn’t like that nick-name since Joy is “Legs”. Sally says that she wants to fit into her short shorts again and Victoria says that is going to take some time. They talk to the ladies and tell them that they need to stop eating. Kim says that if they don’t eat then the brain is going to start eat itself. Victoria says that is more lost weight.

Roy and Elka are at the restaurant and he tells about his life. Elka says that she was young back then and Roy asks what they are going to do. Roy tells her that they should do something crazy and suggests Skydiving. Elka says that she is up and down for that, but it is clear that she isn’t. The girls get in from their jog and do a weigh-in. The ladies have lost some weight, but are too weak to be happy about it. Melanie tells the girls to walk around in heels and get used to it. Joy tells the others that they are changing lives. Elka says that she is going Skydiving and she lied on all the forms. They tell her that she needs a Youngish excuse to get out of it. She says that she should have learned something being on this Earth for 77 years. She smiles and says that they are right, it is good to say. Later, Elka and Roy get ready to Skydive and Roy confesses that he lied and has never jumped out of a plane. Elka is happy that they don’t have to do it and Roy starts to unhook the line. However, it isn’t the line he wants and they fall out of the plane. Meanwhile at the house, the girls get done with their Kiegal exercises. Kim gives Joy “The Walking Taco” a bag of 4,780 calories. Joy throws it away. Elka and Roy are falling and Elka is about to reveal that she lied about her age, but Roy pulls the cord. He asks what she lied about and she says that it was nothing. They start to drift off course and are headed to the lake. Elka says that it is a lovely day for a swim.

Back at the house, Joy is telling Kim, Pam and Sally about skin treatments and demonstrates on a marshmallow and a blowtorch. At the end of the demonstration they ask if they can eat the marshmallow. The husbands come in and tell them that they want their old wives back and say that they miss them the way they were. The wives are happy and thank the girls. They ask why and Kim says that they just wanted to know that their husbands didn’t want them and they got that. Melanie says that they are glad that they are back with their wives. Elka says that Roy is happy with the fact that Elka is older. Victoria is unsure what happened to men. Elka says that they need to loosen up their routine and that they need to eat more. They smell the “Walking Taco” from the trash and they eat the entire bag. However, they realize that they are different and that is alright. They just need to find men who love women like them.
