How Did You Guys Meet, Anyway? - Recap

The scene opens with Melanie, Victoria and Joy at a football game and Victoria asks why they are there. Melanie says that it is a good place to go “man-watching”. Melanie says that she wishes she was one of those women who don’t care to go to the men’s room. Joy says that they’re usually drunk. Melanie takes a sip of beer and says that she is going in. Elka comes up in a dog nose and tells Victoria and Joy that they look ridiculous. Joy is wearing a Manchester United and Elka asks who they are. She says that they are a “real” football team. Melanie comes out and says that there are just urinals in the men bathroom. She swears off men and Joy and Victoria remind her that they all did that the night they met. Elka asks how they all met and says that there isn’t a TV in front of her.

Melanie tells the story and the scene shows Melanie crying. She hears Victoria crying. Victoria comes out dressed like Madonna. The scene changes and Elka laughs and tells them that they couldn’t pass that off. She tells that was the style back then. She says that she could only picture what she would look like in it today and it is hilarious. The scene changes and Victoria asks Melanie if she wants an autograph. Melanie says that she doesn’t know her and she tells her that she is an actress, but she is struggling. Melanie tells her not to say that she tells her that they should talk about why they are upset. Victoria says that she will listen to Melanie first, but proves that she can’t. Victoria tells Melanie that she was sleeping with the director of a music video and was fired when she tried to be more expressive with her acting. She says that the director was sleeping with Madonna and that she didn’t have a chance. Melanie says that she is way prettier then Madonna. Melanie says that she was crying because her boyfriend was cheating on her. She says that she snuck into the hotel room and was interrupted by the bellboy. The door opened and she tried to hide, but it didn’t work.

Melanie says that she went into the hotel room with her boyfriend and didn’t find anyone there. However, when smelled the perfume and found a sweater that was too small for her, she realized that there was a woman. She finds her in the closet and leaves. She says that she was told that she talks too much. Her boyfriend at the time gives her the “It’s not you, it’s me” line and Melanie bought it. The scene changes and Elka says that she can’t believe that she bought that line. She tells her that was new back then. Elka asks what Joy was doing there. The scene changes and Joy is on the rooftop with Melanie and Victoria. She is in a wedding dress. Melanie tells her not to jump and she gets scared and falls off. However, Melanie steps on her train of cloth and saves her life. She gets pulled up and Joy says that she was going to be Joy Jones and to finally get rid of the last name of Scroggs. She tells Melanie and Victoria about how she was in her room getting ready when the bellboy comes up and tells her that she has a message. Joy sees a younger Elka on a game show, but ignores it. She goes to the door and it gives her a shock and she is paralyzed. She has the bellboy read the note and he says that it says that their relationship is over. She sees Elka again.

The scene changes to Joy looking at Elka. She asks if she was ever on any game shows back in the 80s. The scene chances again and Joy is on the roof with Melanie and Victoria and Victoria says that she could always go back to Australia. Joy tells her that she is from England, but Victoria says that she took accent training and knows better then her. She tells Melanie and Victoria that she left and two people rented the room, which turned out to be Melanie’s boyfriend. She tells them that the wedding guests are still in the room and can’t bring herself to tell everyone that the wedding is off. Melanie and Victoria go to the wedding and start to tell that the wedding is canceled, but Melanie stumbles through it. Victoria relies on her acting until she gets a call from her agent telling her that she got the part of Honor St. Raven on “Edge of Tomorrow”. She nonchalantly says that the wedding is off.

Afterward, Joy says that she doesn’t know who to give the bouquet. Victoria says that if she is not married in 20 years, she will marry her herself. They swear off men, but they are only lying. They celebrate with the champagne and Victoria asks if the guy was rich. Melanie says that it doesn’t matter how rich a guy is and says that it is all about love. Victoria says that Melanie is talking as if she is from the Midwest. They laugh and say that they would never move to the Midwest. The scene changes and Elka asks what they are going to do now that they are single and in the Midwest. They tell that they have one another. They reminisce on how they met Elka and she tells them that she told the real estate agent that she would fix them. The episode ends.
