I'm With the Band - Recap

The scene opens with Victoria talking about how Johnny Revere is coming to Cleveland to make amends with his old band mate, Drago. They are going to perform a “We Are the World” type of album called “Cool Aid, A Time To Chill”. She says that she is dating Johnny and that she has an exclusive with him. Later at the house, Melanie comes in asking what Victoria is doing. She tells her that Johnny likes his Martini’s cold and his women hot. Melanie sits down and finds out that David Gates from Bread is going to be there. Elka makes fun of Bread and calls them Elevator Music. Joy says that she is going to the recording studio as well because she wants to be discovered and become a professional singer. Elka says that is not going to happen. Joy says that she is better then Veraina. Melanie says that Veraina has a six octave range. The doorbell rings and Victoria says that she can be herself with him, but she is actually dressed in a school girl outfit.

She answers the door to find a little girl there trying to sell chocolate instead. Victoria tells the girl that she just got back from school and is waiting for a friend. Johnny comes up and says that they need to talk. The girl says that she is going to need the chocolate now. They sit down and Johnny says that he is in love with his backup singer and that he is going to ask her to marry him. She is 22-years-old. He says that she wants to be with him all the time. Later in the kitchen, Victoria is devastated and eating Fundraiser Chocolate. Melanie says that she knows it hurts and Victoria says that Johnny was her “safety net”. She says that she is going to get revenge on him and says that she needs a boyfriend who will trump Rock Star. Victoria gets the idea to be with Drago. She calls him over and convinces him to be her boyfriend.

The next day at the recording studio, Drago comes in late and tells Johnny that he is rough. Victoria tells the viewers that she is now dating Drago, who calls Victoria “Visel-nob”. Johnny says that Victoria doesn’t have to pretend to like Drago to get back at him. Drago calls Victoria his #1 in the “spank bank”. She doesn’t get the reference and smiles. Joy and Elka get in and Elka says that she needs a lock of hair from a celebrity to auction off for her Animal Shelter. She sees Justin Beiber and walks off. Melanie comes in with her guitar and asks if David Gates from Bread is there. Joy says that she doesn’t know what he looks like. Elka fails to get past Beiber’s security depite showing him the puppies he would be saving. Melanie asks where David Gates is and he points her to the sound booth. A guy goes up to the tech guy that Melanie asked and asks who David Gates is and he says that he is the President of the Mini Van Council who is sponsoring the entire thing.

She gets into the sound booth and meets David. She doesn’t mention that she is looking for David Gates from Bread and asks him to sign her guitar. She asks if she can kiss him and he accepts. Joy walks around singing her greetings. She goes up to Elka and Victoria and Elka says that she couldn’t get any Beiber hair and says that “chick” runs fast. Joy says that she hasn’t gotten noticed yet. Victoria says that Johnny isn’t buying that she and Drago are together. Joy tells her that he has to see it for his own eyes. Joy goes up to Veraina and pretends to be Opel Wrinfrey from the BBC. She tells her that she wanted to hear her six octave range. Veraina says that she is resting her voice. Joy says that she can’t do it. Veraina sings the octaves, but only gets four. Meanwhile, Victoria is making out with Drago and Melanie runs in and says that everyone can hear her. She says that is the point. However, Drago passed out already. Johnny comes in and Melanie hides. She pretends to make out with Drago and he is not thrilled to see that. Drago comes to after he leaves and sees Melanie. He asks if he was in a sandwich and then asks for one.

Meanwhile, Joy and Veraina are trying to get to Veraina’s six octave range, but she can’t. In the process, she loses her voice. The singers gather to sing and Melanie realizes that the David Gates that she made out with isn’t from Bread. Joy comes in pretending to be Veraina. They sing and Joy is not good at all. However, they don’t pay attention and Johnny stops the track and tells Drago to stay away from Victoria. Drago says that she isn’t his and says that it is like him kicking him out of the band all over again. Johnny says that Drago left the band. Melanie says congratulations to Victoria and she says that she is happy. However, she realizes that she is stopping Johnny from having someone with him all the time. David Gates comes in and she tells him the truth. He says that he is a “Bread-head” and she finds common ground.

Later at the house, Victoria tells Johnny that he has to go back to Natalia, the backup singer. He is confused and she says that he deserves to be happy. He says that he is going to write a song about her. They kiss and then start to make-out. He says that he doesn’t know what he is thinking going with a 22-year-old. He says that having her 20% of the time is good enough for him and kisses her again. Meanwhile, Elka talks with Drago and he can’t believe that “Visel-nob” is with Johnny again. Elka tells him that there are other “fish” in the sea. She finds out that he is famous and cuts her hair so that she can auction it off for her Animal Shelter. The episode ends.
