Eddie is bedridden and dying of lung cancer. His wife Charlotte, and their friends and family have gathered at his bedside to say goodbye. Eddie asks them to leave him alone with Charlotte, and he apologizes to her for never taking her to the beach on Rio as he promised. Charlotte assures him that she's always loved him, and Eddie says he's ready.
