House of Lies



House Of Lies is based on the book "House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn" and is a new comedy that follows management consultant, Marty (Don Cheadle) who doesn't like to lose and will do anything by using people and manipulating things to go his way. Jeannie Van Der Hooven (Kristen Bell), a co-worker of Marty's, is beside him with a razor-sharp personality to match Marty's. Together they and Marty's corporate team members, Monica (Dawn Oliveri) Jeremiah (Glynn Turman) and Roscoe (Donis Leonard Jr.) take what they can a run with it. Created by Matthew Carnahan (Dirt) and Martin Kihn,House Of Lies is a half-hour comedy that stretches the boundaries between work and personal relationships in a cut-throat consultant type of way.

recap: The episode begins in Vegas with Marty and team along with Sarah posing for a picture. Flashback to earlier in the day and the team is shown sitting in Marty’s office at GallWeather and discussing about the new shop Marty is planning to open. Doug is really apprehensive about this move, but Clyde seems completely onboard, until Marty shocks him by revealing that he has scrapped the deal with Carlson and made a new deal with Pinkass. Clyde is really unhappy about it, but says nothing and walks out. Marty brings Jeannie to an office space he is thinking of renting for his new company and Jeannie likes it... read more.

recap: The episode begins with Marty playing poker at home with his family. Marty is teaching Roscoe how to be an expert in the game, while Malcolm is trying to convince Marty to contribute to his cause. At the office, Doug and Clyde are worried because Marty seems to be too busy to pick up their calls. Marty is in a sauna with a man named Eric, who also works for Gallweather Stern. She says she needs time to think about that, because it’s a big deal. At Monica’s house, while he is waiting to pick up Roscoe, Marty finds a tiny bottle of cocaine near the pool. He confronts Monica about it. She quickly disposes of the bottle, and warns him to keep mum about the issue. Clyde tries to lighten her mood by bringing up the fact that its Doug’s one month anniversary with Sarah and he need some gift ideas. Doug then runs some really ridiculous ideas by Jeannie and just then Marty calls. Marty is at home with a black eye and bruises on his face and tells Jeannie he is taking some personal days. Turns out, he has resurfaced after 3 years. There apparently seems to be bitter rivalry between the two brothers. The check arrives and Marty has to pay, because Malcolm apparently has no money. Later at the office, Marty and team discuss their strategy for a dating site called Cupidchemistry.com. The website is basically their client and it’s their job to make it really successful.
