How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother is a comedy about Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he fell in love. When Ted's best friend, Marshall (Jason Segal, Freaks and Geeks), decides to propose to his long-time girlfriend, Lily (Alyson Hannigan, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ted realizes that time may be running out on finding the love of his life. His friend Barney (Neil Patrick Harris, Doogie Howser MD) is the anti-Marshall, a guy who thinks he knows everything about meeting women and isn't afraid to tell you.

Ted first meets Robin (Cobie Smulders, Veritas the Quest), and he believes that she is the woman for him. Soon he realizes that he may not be right after all. Bob Saget (Full House) narrates the story with voiceovers as we follow along flashbacks from the future when he is telling his children the story of how he met their mother.

In a time when there is a massive crop of unwanted, and not funny sitcoms, its refreshing to find How I Met Your Mother. With a unique base premise, but a modern and fun major storyline, this show is really a treat. The writing never seems too overused (even with many suit and legendary jokes in the first season), and never dry. The characters are interesting and very personable, and well acted. Neil Patrick Harris brings to life one of the best sitcom characters in the past decade as Barney, the advice-giving, suited up playboy. Read more

7x24: The Magician's Code (2) recap: Barney is worried about having left things badly with Quinn. He gets to his apartment and sees that it's been remodeled pink with Hello Kitty dolls. He's just glad she's still there, and hugs her. "Welcome home," she says, and they kiss. Meanwhile, Robin was put in charge of Marvin's birth announcement photo. Ted gets a text from a girl he met on the train and wants advice from Marshall and Lily on what he should do. Marshall and Lily tell him he can only come to them with questions that are of an 8 magnitude or higher. Meanwhile, Ted calls Victoria and asks her if she wants to get together and they make plans to meet at 1:30. Ted originally said 2, but Victoria asked to make it earlier because she might have a thing later... read more.

7x23: The Magician's Code (1) recap: The episode begins and Lily is in labor and Marshall is in Atlantic City, but it's impossible to get a cab because of a big thing that Old Ted can't remember. Meanwhile, Ted and Robin arrive and Ted's freaking out, despite shouting that he's "not freaking out!" Robin is confident she can handle the situation because she once helped deliver a horse on the farm in Canada. Ted's more focused on putting out a kick-ass labor announcement email. Lily needs a distraction, so Robin tells her about her worst cab ride ever. Lily has another contraction. Meanwhile, Barney tells Marshall he'll get him to the hospital on time, but in return Barney wants to choose the baby's middle name: "Wait for It." That's the name... read more.

7x22: Good Crazy recap: The episode begins; Marshall and Lily host a baby shower at the apartment but Ted intentionally shows up three hours late to avoid Robin. No worries there, though. Robin showed up three hours early and left before the party started. They each both also brought the same stroller, but in different colors. Lily says one moment got awkward when Barney came in on a conversation Quinn was having with Lily's Grandma Lois about how Quinn does "50 laps a day." Barney went into a self-righteous speech about how the woman should be ashamed of herself for judging Quinn, but Quinn explains they were talking about swimming laps for exercise... read more.

7x20: Trilogy Time recap: The episode begins, and Barney's neighbor across the street is spying on him, noting that every night at exactly 8 p.m. "the well-dressed blond man appears." Night after night, he walks out of his building, "steps out seven paces, stops and smiles." It's driving the man crazy. We cut to Robin asking Barney, "But, aside from not being able to fart in the apartment, how's living with Quinn?" Barney says it's great. Barney admits it's actually pretty bad. After coming back from his "8 o'clock fart," he came back inside and Quinn asked if it would be OK if they could use her coffee mugs instead of his -- the only thing of her own that she'd like to use after having sold all of her stuff... read more.

7x21: Now We're Even recap: The episode begins and, “How do you like living alone?” is the question Marshall poses to Ted. And so we take a peek into what life sans roommates is like for Ted Mosby. His first order of business? To strip! Thanks to a few strategically placed household items, we watch Mosby as he walks around in the buff. He does the laundry nude, and then audaciously leaves the basket right in the middle of the floor. He also doesn’t have to worry about anyone eating his food, bothering him as he chows on a bucket o’ ribs, and, no one is there to laugh at him when he spills scalding soup down his chest... read more.
