Baby Talk - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Lily and Marshall are having a nice visit with their friends that have a baby. Claudia and Stewart were the ones that got married when Ted met the baker that moved out of the country. They still haven't decided what they are going to name their child. There is a bit of bitterness between one another over the fact that they can't decide on a name. Marshall and Lily think that they are never going to argue over something that seems to be so trivial. That is when the names they suggest are never the same and things seem to prove them wrong all the time.

They go to their hang out and they are still talking about the names. Every single name Marshall suggests is shot down with bad memories of a child from her class that has the same name. There are a lot of moments like that. Robin says that they definitely shouldn't name it Becky. None of them know why and she's like "see! I knew you weren't watching!" It turns out that this is her new annoying co anchor that really isn't that bright. Ted saw when she didn't want to talk about all of the sad events that happen for the news to be the news. He likes her and it seems that men really do enjoy the women that act like little girls. Robin says that if a guy did that he would never get laid. That is when Barney chimes in with "challenge accepted" and decides to see what he can do to win it.

Lily comes up with a bunch of names that Marshall hates for one reason or another. Tara is bad because she was the hottest chick in his school. Ester is an awful name because he had seen the most traumatizing stripper. Not only that, but he really just doesn't want a daughter. He's more comfortable with the idea of having a son because he's scared his daughter will end up being a stripper or he'd have to deal with awful dudes and just so many things that could go wrong. He wants to have a son, not a daughter.

Marshall skypes with his parents because he needs their advice. His father gets his mother out of the room for a bit and he tells him all of these tips about how to ensure him having a boy. No lemons! NO LEMONS! Robin is doing her show and her airheaded co-anchor interrupts to tell her all about this date that she had. Robin realizes it was with Ted and she says "This just in: Later today, a Manhattan architect gets punched in the throat." She does punch him in the throat, that is for sure. She's mad because he took her enemy out and he says that he didn't mean to. She had come over to bring her gummy bear cookies and then talks about how she makes him feel needed. Robin never makes anyone feel needed.

Barney is having a pretty awful time getting himself a date with his baby voice. He gives up and runs out. Marshall and Lily are about to get dirty, but he needs a couple of minutes and goes to prepare the plan. He munches on pickled herring. He drops his testicles in to a bowl of ice (seriously), and then he screams his last name before he runs out. He also needs to make sure that she is "due north". It turns out that they both had conversations with their respect parents of Marshall. It turns out she has a bowl full of lemons and even heated up her "down there" with a hairdryer. They decided that the name they want to use is Jamie after being super cute and realizing they were being dumb about the gender.

Robin goes to Barney's and asks him about her making him feel needed. He was like nope! But he finds that to be really attractive. He says that she is the most independent and amazing woman he has ever been with. Robin notices that there is a girl there and she spoke like a baby as did he at that time, so he completed this mission.

Marshall and Lily go to see their parental friends and they have settled on the name Ester which is just awful to Marshall, of course. Ted decides that he's taking Becky out again. He goes to tie her shoes and he notices that there is a father that is doing that for his toddler of a daughter. This inspires him to break up with the woman-baby.
