Ducky Tie - Recap

The gang is at MacLaren’s and Ted has to tell them that he ran into his ex-Victoria. He tries to tell them about that, but the gang is really just so enamored by Lily’s new pregnancy induced mammary glands. Barney would like to see them, so they end up hedging a bet and if he wins, he sees them. If he loses, he ends up having to wear this hideous duck tie for an entire year. He had this perfectly planned, but he failed thanks to Lily’s usage of her newly enlarged breasts and now he has to wear the tie for the following year.

Victoria tells that she is getting engaged to a guy named Klaus. She feels like he is still hooked on Robin and he needs to work on it. She also thinks that it is totally strange that he and Barney both had loving relationships with Robin and yet, they are still friends. Ted puts the timeline together, realizing that Klaus is the man she met at a cooking class before she even left. To him, that means that she really did not care about him to begin with as much as he thought she did and that this again—is not fate.

Throughout their discussion about Klaus, he wonders if she cheated on him. She tells him that she didn’t, but the timing was a little too close together. She has been gone for six years, meaning that she has been with Klaus for that span of time.

Taking into consideration everything Victoria said, Ted seems to have a lot to think about and there is no doubt he will do it, overthink, and things will get far more complicated. Barney is most certainly still in love with Robin, Robin is most certainly still in love with Barney, and Ted is lost trying to find his place.
