Ted announces that he met a new girl and forbids Barney and Robin from researching her despite their history to do so. He makes a pact with this new girl to not do any internet research on each until after their date. Barney, Robin, and Kevin help Marshall and Lily paint the nursery Yellow. Lily and Marshall don’t know the sex of their baby and Barney has a problem with this.
During an argument, Kevin voices his frustration over the gang’s co-dependence on each other. While on his date, Ted has some trouble talking to the girl. Once they both admit that they’re having trouble talking, they start having a good time. Barney and Robin give in and find something incriminating about Ted’s date but Ted refuses to find out.
After being teased with the knowledge that Barney and Robin know the sex of their baby, Barney rips the card which the gender of the baby was written on in half, allowing Lily and Marshall only half the information and insist that they help convince Ted to read the information about his date.
Finally, Ted gives in and sees the information, and finds she’s a genius millionaire who has achieved a lot. So Ted feels intimidated and tries to impress her. But she takes off when she finds out that he looked her up. Barney gives the rest of the card to Lily and Marshall, which Marshall throws out the window, refusing to know the sex of the baby, but when Ted returns from his date, the card stuck to his shoe, which Marshall read : BOY
