Just the Tip - Recap

The scene opens with Ray talking off his clothing while walking down the street and jumps in the lake naked. He narrates about the fact that his ex-wife paid for sex, she is a new married woman and that it was supposed to be him that was supposed to have sex with her but he left her in the hotel room. But he can’t be bothered with that because he has a house to fix and his job is only until the end of spring. However, he is a baseball coach now and he has to repair the baseball field that is in bad condition as is. Jessica is contemplating what happened at the hotel room and Ray calls saying that they need to talk. Teachers and parents are protesting outside the school and Ray sees Jessica drop off Damon and Darby and tells that they should have a meeting about the kids. Jessica blows him off and says that he is acting weird. Ray meets with Lenore and Tanya and they are looking at a mural. Lenore wants to know what happened with Claire. Ray tells that he held back because he didn’t want to hurt the baby that she is carrying. They laugh that Ray only put the tip in and Lenore tells that he needs to give the full product to all customers. Outside, Tanya is upset with Lenore that she is bossing Ray around and tells that she doesn’t know anything about Ray and that she, Tanya, should be giving the advice. Ray gives Tanya her cut of the money and it is getting taken out from his 60%. Tanya is furious that it was supposed to be Ray gets 60% and Lenore and Tanya get 20% each. Ray doesn’t see a problem with it right now and tells that she will get the 20% from his 60%.

Later that night, Tanya goes up to a doughnut shop and parks next to where prostitutes are working. They ask her if she has any sandwiches because they think that she is from the mission. But she just wants to know about their work. Their pimp comes up to her and asks what she is doing. She wants to know the psychology of prostitution. He tells her to get out of there. Ray goes up to Principal Barr and discusses why the baseball players can get a ride to the away games but can’t get a ride back. She tells that it is funding problems and that is how it goes. Ray is still putting all his money into repairing his house. Ray meets with Claire again and they talk about last performance and how she felt that Ray was holding back emotionally and wants to know if he is freaked out. He lies to Claire and tells that he likes having sex with her despite her being pregnant.

Jessica is at home and tries to communicate with Damon and Darby. She finds out that Darby’s boyfriend broke up with her again. They don’t want anything to do with her. Jessica tries to relate to them. They tell that she is lost and that she can’t live without a man in her life. Tanya is at the doughnut shop and meets the pimp from last night and tells that she is a pimp as well. She asks for help and wants to get Ray to bond with her. The pimp tells that she needs to get Ray on a leash and to do that she needs to get to know what he needs and give it to him. He introduces himself as Charlie and Tanya leaves.

At Ray’s house in progress, he has a “visitor” over and she tells Ray that he needs to get a bed because she is tired of doing it on the floor. Tanya knocks on the door and the girl says that she has Ray-Dar and comes over every time they have sex. Ray gets dressed and answers the door. Tanya has brought hamburgers and beer! Tanya tells that she is not going to take her cut from Ray anymore until Ray knows that she is a better pimp then Lenore. She can tell that something is bothering him about Claire, the pregnant client. He tells that she reminds him of Jessica and when she was pregnant. He tells that Ray needs to pretend that Clare is his ex-wife to make the experience better.

Ray talks to his new team and tells them the truth about their playing time. He tells that he won’t let money or anyone stand in their way of going to the championships. Tanya is at home and she calls Lenore. She tells that everything is going to go well with Clare and that she was the one that gave good advice to Ray and not her. She tells that she can pull her own weight and tells that she is the pie and not some piece of the pie. Jessica is looking at old dance pictures and goes and meets Ray at a bowling alley. Ray wanted to talk only to hear Jessica talk and bowl. They start bowling and have a fun time again.
