"Sing It Again Ray" or "Home Plate" - Recap

The scene opens up with Damon at school. He walks up to the pitcher’s mound and pretends to throw a ball. He walks up to home plate and hits the imaginary ball. He then urinates on it. Ray visits Lenore and she is getting out of bed. She answers the intercom and tells that she is naked and that Ray can’t come in. Ray tells Lenore to stay away from Jessica. She tells that she is trying to save Jessica from getting divorced again and brings up the fact that Ray is still bowling with her and that he is ruining her marriage with Ronnie. Ray visits Tanya who is in the middle of telling her landlords that they will get their money soon. Ray tells that he doesn’t trust Lenore and tells that he needs to know that Tanya can get the clients without Lenore’s help. Tanya tells that she can get the clients.

Jessica is in the shower and Ronnie joins her. He tells that he loves her and starts talking about the baby issue. He tells that he wants to carry on the tradition of his family and have a baby. Jessica tells that she is 42 years old and tells that she is not going to have a baby with him. Ronnie comes in the kitchen mumbling about how he is a good man and can’t find his oatmeal. He picks up a plate and smashes it. Jessica’s mother is in the kitchen and thinks that he is crazy. He screams that his life is not what he dreamed of.

Mike comes into Ray’s office at the school and he tells that the security guard told that Damon urinated on home plate. Ray meets with Tanya and she tells that Damon is trying to express himself and that Ray needs to take him to a poetry café and find out if he is an artist. Ray looks at the paper but throws it. Tanya gets the paper back from the skywalk and hits her head on a beam. Ray asks if she is alright and she says that she is fine. They walk up to the food court and Tanya tells that he needs to simply stand there and let Francis look at him from afar. Ray is a little upset that he had to drive down there, but Tanya tells that it is worth it. Ronnie comes in to find Jessica and her mother putting the plate that was broken back together and he apologizes. Jessica’s mother is disgusted and asked if he needed oatmeal that bad and leaves. Ronnie tells Jessica that he loved her since the 10th grade. He tells that he wants to be in the inside and he tells that he loves her. Jessica tells that she wants him to be in the inside too. Ronnie takes this as a yes to his question and is excited that he is going to be a father.

Ray takes Damon fishing and asks if there is anything that he wants to tell him. Ray tells that his father made decoy ducks, but tells that he hated the ducks because his father never spent time with Ray. He tells that the security guard saw him and that it is alright if he was trying to make a statement but Damon tells that he just drank a lot of pop. Ray goes to a hotel where a “Singles over 40” mingle is happening but he is only there to meet a client. Mike sees Ray getting a hotel room and asks if he can get him a drink. Ray tells that he has to meet someone and has to go. He tells that his name is “Mr. Falls” and gets the key. He says goodbye to Mike. Ray walks in the hotel room to find his client naked. She walks over and kisses him. She is eager and licks Ray. He licks back and they get to “business”. Christina introduces herself and tells that it is her birthday and asks for him to sing “Happy Birthday” in different tones and voices.

Lenore meets with Jessica and talks about how sorry she is that her “prostitute” didn’t show up and that she can make it up. Jessica doesn’t want Lenore’s “sex therapy” and tells that Ronnie asked to have a baby with her. She tells that she didn’t say yes. Lenore tells that maybe having a baby is good though. She tells Jessica that she is only trying to save her marriage and that Ronnie is a good man. She reminds Jessica of the good things that Ronnie is and that she needs to stop going bowling. At the ballpark, Mike is talking about the hotel room. Ray tells that he likes to spend time with the girl. Mike is jealous and asks who “Mr. Falls” is and Jessica shows up. She tells bowling night is officially over and that she is thinking of having a baby with Ronnie and Ray turns away from her hurt that she is going to do it. She tells that she hasn’t given an answer but he is still upset.

Tanya goes to the poet café and Ray and Damon are there too. Tanya is on stage and reads a poem and gets the crowd repeating what she says. At the end of the poem Tanya tells that you need to draw on your own experiences to create the art that is poetry. She tells that Damon was creating art when he urinated on home plate at his school. Ray tells that he is going to go home and that he is going to take Damon with him. But Tanya tells that she can take Damon home. Ray asks if Damon is alright with that and he agrees. Ray walks out and watches from a distance and sees that Damon is having a fun time. He walks home.
