"Third Base" or "The Rash" - Recap

The scene opens with Ray and Mike in the locker room. It has been vandalized and all their equipment stolen. Mike asks if it was Damon could have done it. Ray tells that he couldn’t have and tells that it was possibly a rival school. Ray tells that it is all over and that the State is out of money for new supplies. Mike reminds Ray of the Alumni game and says that they can make the money back with the visitors. He tells that he can’t play baseball anymore and that he is out of practice. Mike asks him to play because they will get more people to come if they know that Ray is playing. Ray starts to get into practice again and can’t hit a single ball. Meanwhile, Mike and Francis are on a date at the aquarium and Mike tells that he loves being with Francis. She laughs to think that Mike is really a teacher and was thinking other things. Mike tells that he loves the work. Mike tells about the Alumni Game and asks if she could purchase a rool of tickets and to simply write out a check. She is hesitant and Mike tells that it is no pressure. But still she is hesitant thinking that he is just using her for her money.

Ray meets with Damon and he tells that he didn’t vandalize the locker room. Ray tells that he knew he didn’t but had to make sure. Damon tells that he is going to the salad bar. Ray spots Claire across the restaurant and she writes on a napkin and signals for him to get it when she leaves. As she leaves, Ray walks over and finds her phone number written on it. Meanwhile, Tanya meets with Francis and tries to be the tough pimp and says that Francis had Mike on the weekdays and not only the weekends as she paid for. She announces that Mike came on his own and Tanya gives an amount for Francis to pay. She looks at the amount and tells that she can’t pay it. Tanya threatens and tells that she will call up Mike and tell that he is not to see her anymore. She starts to get whimpery and asks what kind of game they are playing. She tells that Mike asked her for money and now Tanya is too. Tanya tells that she is not to give Mike money and Francis tells that she is not an ATM. Francis calls Tanya despicable and tells that she is not going to see Mike anymore. Tanya calls Charlie and tells that she is not in the pimp state of mind.

Ray is in the batter cage and he is hitting every ball coming at him. Ray visits Claire and she tells that she is lonely and is too fat. Ray tells that she is beautiful and offers to „relieve” her. But, in the process, he gets into it a position that he shouldn’t be and hurts his shoulder. She is however, relieved. Ronnie walks in on Jessica and she shows that she has a rash. Ronnie tells that he is the top skin doctor and asks why she did not come to him. He tells that it won’t upset him. She shows the rash and he is upset. They flashback to when Jessica and Ray were married and talks about the rash and tells that her rash is all psychological and tells that she is unhappy. Present day and Ronnie is mad that it is the „unhappy” rash. Mike and Ray are having beers and Ray tells that he can’t play. Mike tells that his messed up and tells that he asked Francis to sponsor the team and that she got upset about money and Mike tells that he always messes things up. Ray walks over to Tanya’s and admits to sleeping with Lenore. He is drunk and tells that he hurt his shoulder and Tanya tells thanks for telling her about Lenore and Ray asks if she gave the money back to Francis. She tells that she did.

It’s game time and Mike is leaving another message for Francis and the team get ready to go out and play. The Star Spangled Banner is sung and the game begins. In the parking lot, Jessica tells that Damon and Darby are going to the game and gives them money for hotdogs. She sees Cheerleaders and decides to go inside and watch the game. Damon walks through the parking lot and so is Ronnie. Damon finds Tanya in her car and asks if she is going to watch the game. Tanya tells that she is there to confess a crime. She tells that everything is not ok. Ronnie walks up to Ray and tells that Jessica has a rash. He tells Ray to stay away from Jessica and tells that she picked him. He tells that she is allergic to Ray and tells that he rules the world. This gives Ray the motivation to give the batting a try despite a wounded shoulder. Francis is at the game. Ray gets his running shoes on and the pitcher tells that he will give him a easy hit. He tells Lambert no, but it is certain that he will. Ronnie goes up to the stands and tells Jessica that he is leaving the game and asks if she is going too. Jessica tells that it is just a game. After two strikes Ray gets the pitch that Lambert told he would pitch and he takes the hit. The ball flies over the fence and even though they lose 3 to 10, they are happy.

After the game, Francis tells that Tanya and her wouldn’t speak about money and she tells that she pays to see him. She tells Mike to stop pretending and Mike tells that he is not pretending. Tanya walks up to Francis but seeing Mike, she runs down the field and jumps over the outfield fence. Ray comes out and Jessica congratulates his hit. Ray looks at her rash and the kids come over and Ray tells Jessica that she is going to do a cheer. She does the cheer and the episode ends.
