When Paul offers Sheldon a bed for the night in his sheltered accommodation, the vagrant's eyes are opened up to a whole new world.
Sheldon decides Paul needs some excitement in his life, so arranges for a prostitute to visit him - but his plan backfires when his new friend finds out and expresses his horror at the idea. Meanwhile, Sergeant Swithenback continues to hang around at the lodge so he can spend time with Jean.
Paul seems to have taken a fancy to local policewoman Sarah, and Sheldon sets him up on a blind date. When Syd claims he has been bitten by a goose, the matchmaker decides to hunt it down and serve it to the lovebirds. Meanwhile, Dorothy reveals she has a soft spot for hairdresser Bobby, and while most people seem to think he's gay, she is strongly opposed to the idea.
Paul has a bet with Syd that he can make more money than him at the Bramble Lodge craft fair, but his sales technique of abusing customers who don't buy anything leaves a lot to be desired. Meanwhile, Sheldon feels undermined by Liam the boy scout, and Graham convinces visitors he's a criminal mastermind.
Syd makes a quick profit by charging the public to use the disabled parking space at Bramble Lodge - the only place drivers know their cars won't be vandalised. However, Paul and Sheldon mount an investigation in the hope of putting a stop to his racket.
Sheldon and Paul break into Jean's office and discover a letter revealing the council's plans to close Bramble Lodge. Deciding to take action by organising a protest, the group face difficulty when they try to take to the roof. Meanwhile, Swithenback finally plucks up the courage to ask Jean out on a date.
