Meet the Shannons - Recap

The scene opens in San Francisco in 1995 where a woman is taking drugs and dealing them. She goes up to a man and says that she can sell more. The guy asks where Ryan is. The girl says that she will call him, but doesn’t get a hold of him and she hears the men get violent and gun fire. Suddenly the DEA comes in and busts the Yakuza members and take the girl out of there. The girl is registered into WITSEC as Sharon Harris. The scene changes to present day with Marshall and Abigail are sitting around drinking coffee and Abigail says that she has set them up for a Spa day, but Marshall tells that he is not a massage guy and says that he was physically scared from a masseuse. Mary comes in and hears them talking about Spa treatments. Marshall comes in and Mary tells that Abigail is a “fixer” and she will not rest until she has changed her. Mary gets a text from Sharon Harris and it is Urgent.

Mary goes to a Miss Teen Congeniality pageant and meets Sharon. She asks what is so urgent and she says that it is her daughter, Beth. She takes Mary in the dressing room and shows Mary a picture of herself when she was arrested years ago. She tells that she never said a word. Beth comes into the dressing room and finds her mom with the picture. Mary tells that Sharon entered the Witness Protection program before she had her and Beth is offended that Sharon lied to her. She says that she didn’t want her to find out this way and Beth says that she is not going anywhere, but Mary tells her that she doesn’t have a choice. They go back to Sharon’s house and Beth asks to talk to her father and storms in her room. Mary goes inside and asks where Beth got the photo of her mother from the past. She tells that it is a screenshot from an upcoming episode of a tv show. Mary tells Beth that she can’t tell her friends because they will say something and then the Yakuza will find her and her family and kill them without even thinking about it. Beth gets scared and Mary tells her that she should be scared about this.

Beth’s father, Carl, gets home and Beth is distraught. However, Carl already knew about Sharon’s past and says that they don’t have that woman anymore in their lives. Beth asks how the two met and Carl gives a detailed description of everything. Beth’s friends come over and Mary tells that if she says anything to them, she will move her family quicker than she could say goodbye. Later that night, Mary gets home to find Brandi and her mother, Jinx, in the living room. They tell that they have the wedding plans covered. Mary suggests that Peter’s parents pay for the wedding because they are loaded. Brandi says that they want a quaint wedding. Mary says that she doesn’t care and is going to go drink some tequila. Meanwhile, Stan gives Delia and two other agents a recognition test and plays the video of the “Humanity’s Worst Criminals”. He asks if they can recognize the girl in the picture to women now. They all pick out Sharon with no problems. The next day, Mary visits Beth at school and tells her that she knows what she is going through and Beth tells that they were always artsy and crazy overprotective, but now they are different people. Mary gives her phone number to Beth. She gets back to WISEC and Mary asks Marshall how he met Abigail. Marshall gives a brief description and Mary says that Carl and Sharon’s meeting was rehearsed. She looks at the computer of Sharon’s associates and Ryan Marsh, the guy that didn’t show, looks like Carl.

Stan goes to the tv network airing “Humanity’s Worst Criminals” and tells the head of the network not to air it. He says that he has to do what he has to and says sorry. Stan tells that it is alright because Stan has never helped him out before. However, the head of the network says that he needs a favor and says that it is Traffic related. Back at WITSEC, Mary comes up to Marshall and says that Carl’s record is clean. However, Mary tells that Carl is guilty and needs to be brought in. Mary goes up to Carl at work and says that they have to tap their phones and forgot to have him sign. Carl tells a story of Beth making him breakfast one time. Mary tells that building a new life is hard, but even harder when building on a lie. She tells that they need to give Beth time to adjust. Mary gets in her car and places the pen and clipboard in a sealed bag.

Stan meets Detective Chaffey about some speeding tickets and says that he is sure that she knows a guy. Abigail says that Stan can free up Marshall and it will work out. Mary calls Marshall and asks about the prints. Mary arrives at the dinner and waits for the prints. Mary comes in to find Brandi, Peter, Jinx, Hal and Dora at the table. They talk about the event and Hal and Dora tell that they would like to handle the reception because they are thinking of a guest list of 200-300 people. Mary steps in and says that Jinx has been planning this and it would not be good. Jinx tells that it is alright because she is only in this to make Brandi and Peter happy. After dinner, Mary congrats Jinx for conning Hal and Dora to take care of the reception. Mary gets a call from Marshall and he says that Ryan Marsh is Carl. He says that the Task Force is gearing up for an arrest. Mary tells that she wants to tell Beth about it first. Meanwhile, Carl picks Beth up from school and talks to her about Sharon and says that it will be alight. She agrees. Beth gets a call from Mary and Mary tells her to tell Carl that she wants to get a drink from 7/11. Carl asks who it was and she lies and says that it was her friend. However, he grabs her phone and asks what Mary wanted. She tells him that it was nothing and he gets nervous.

Carl calls Sharon and tells that they are stopping by “Dairy Queen” before going home. Sharon tells him to pick her up a “vanilla cone”. Carl drives to the side of the road and tells Beth that if they don’t run now, they are going to prison. Marshall and Mary get on the road and Mary shows that she planted a tracker on Beth’s laptop. They see that she is headed to Mexico. They meet her before she can make it, but it is Sharon and not Beth. She tells that she is not going to tell them where Carl and Beth are. Mary tells Sharon that she is not doing Beth any favors and Sharon tells that Carl wasn’t even at the bust and says that he was chained to a radiator. Mary doesn’t believe it, but Sharon says that Carl turned his life around and then her life too. Mary tells that Beth is not going to like the life that she is going to live and never have friends. Sharon gets emotional and calls Carla and tells him that she would love to cross the border together. The team bursts in a restaurant and arrest Carl. Abigail has Marshall for the day and tells that he is going to love his time at the Spa. Later at WITSEC, Beth enters the program and Sharon tells that they get to have a new life. Mary tells that Beth will be alright and she thanks Mary. The episode ends with Marshall getting a massage from Abigail, Mary taking Beth to a pageant and later going home to be with Brandi and Jinx.
