Something A-Mish - Recap

The scene opens in Intercourse, Pennsylvania. A woman tells her father that he shouldn’t be doing heavy lifting. He goes inside and the woman sees Bikers approach. They go up to a man working in the field and one of the men shoots him. The Bikers are from the “Hell’s Vanguard”. Mary and Marshall arrive in Pennsylvania and Mary complains that her breasts are getting bigger because she has been eating pies. Mary says that the Amish in the city are boring. They go into the village and meet with the woman who saw the murder and her husband. Mary tells the woman, who she addresses to as Sarah, and tells her that she needs to get into the program. Sarah’s father says that they will respond according to God’s will to deal with the protection. Sarah says that she can’t be separated from the things that she loves and says that Yonni, her husband is going to be by her side. Mary tells her that they should sleep on it. Sarah’s father offers them beds at his home and they accept. Mary takes the apple pie with her to bed.


Later that night, Mary can’t sleep and says that the bed is not good and sees that Marshall is in the Amish pajamas. She asks where the bathroom is and he laughs and says that it is outside. Sarah is spinning when the shooter from before comes in and puts a gun to Sarah’s head. However, Mary is there to arrest him and asks where her community protection is. Sarah and Yonni change their names and enter the program. Mary and Marshall take Sarah and Yonni to headquarters and Mary says that Sarah was amazed when they got off the airplane. Stan asks if Yonni ever has been on the outside world and Marshall says that he went on his “Rumspringa”, a coming of age time where the teenage Amish go out and explore the outside world. Delia comes in and says that they have the problem with the contract and says that it is about tools. Mary and Marshall go inside the room and Yonni says that he needs a special saw for his carpentry trade. Mary says that he is going to have to get a new job and Marshall says that he has a contractor who is looking for workers.

Outside, Marshall explains the GPS to Yonni and Sarah and Yonni says that it will be easy for Sarah when she drives. However, Sarah has no intention to drive. Brandi calls Mary and asks what went on with Mark and she says that nothing happened. She tells her that Mark is not talking to her on Facebook and Mary says that she is going to tell her. However, she hangs up the phone and tells Sarah that they got disconnected. Mary gets Sarah organized in her home and Sarah shows that she is knitting Yonni a sweater and says that Yonni doesn’t want her to work outside the home, but Mary says that she has other options. Yonni shows that they got a television. Sarah doesn’t like it and Yonni says that they need to be connected to the outside world and Sarah tries to say something, but he tells her that they will talk later. Later at a bakery, Mary is eating more pie when Abigail comes up. She asks if Marshall has a specific book and Mary tell that she doesn’t know. Mary says that coffee doesn’t taste good and Abigail asks if she has a cold. She says that she doesn’t and says that she will look out for the book.

Later that night, Mary tries to call Sarah and there is no one picking up. She goes by the house to find Yonni drunk. She calls Marshall and he says that Sarah was brought into the station where she was arrested for being with prostitutes. Mary asks Yonni about the drinking and he says that he picked up some bad habits during his “Rumspringa”. He vomits and Mary gets sick too. They get into the station to find Sarah there. She is talking to a prostitute named Evita. She talks to Mary and says that she walked and says that Evita asks for some cigarette money. Sarah says that Yonni went to look for tools and says that she forgot her phone. Mary talks about how bad the coffee is and Sarah says that hers is delicious. The next day, Marshall finds Mary eating pie again and says that there is something going on with them. Mary takes Sarah to a Yarn Store for a knitting club and the older ladies tell that they knit because of sexual frustration. They leave right away and Sarah says that she is going back to Pennsylvania. Mary says that she can’t because there are men who want to kill her and she shows a picture of the dead Amish man.


Mary gets into the station and sees that there is a bunch of Chinese food. Stan says that it is Staff Lunches now and asks to compare notes. Mary says that she will play along and says that Sarah is not doing good and Delia says that they want her for a preliminary hearing. Marshall comes up and says that Yonni walked off with a woman from the worksite. Mary gets a call from Brandi telling her that she knows that something happened with Mark and says that Mark has pictures of Mary and him all over his Facebook. She says that there is an emergency and hangs up. They get to Sarah’s house and Sarah says that she doesn’t know where Yonni went off and Mary says that she knows about the disagreement. Sarah says that Yonni needed his baptism when he got back from his “Rumspringa” and that they knew that he did bad things. The night they had an argument was when Sarah found him with Evita and says that they have a “mutual friend” in Pennsylvania. Marshall gets on the phone and Mary says that they have to relocate Sarah. In the car, Stan calls and says that the woman that Yonni went off with, was Evita.

They go to the station and she says that she was with Yonni because her friend in Pennsylvania wanted her to talk to Yonni. She says that Yonni is looking to move drugs and says that she doesn’t know where Yonni and says that he was talking about a better buyer. That night, Mary gets home and takes out a home pregnancy test. The next day, they talk to Sarah and she says that Yonni got into drugs and when he got back to the village, he started selling to the villagers. She thought that it was over, but she says that someone by the name of Arnold E. was always calling him. Abigail says that Arnold Esposito is their guy and gives Marshall the address to his place. She tells him to wear a vest. They get there and find Yonni shot and killed. Marshall sees the “Hell’s Vanguard” ride off. Stan says that he wants Mary at her desk and wants to know how they got where they are with Yonni shot and killed. Marshall says that the “Hell’s Vanguard” finally took out the hit. Stan says that Sarah is not going to have to testify because they are getting a deal.


Stan, Mary and Marshall sit down with Sarah and tell that Yonni is dead and that she witnessed the “Hell’s Vanguard” kill someone and they won’t forget it. However, Sarah says that she needs to go home and listen to her own voice. She says that it is simple for her and it is her choice. She gets home and is greeted. Later at the office, Mary tries to tell Marshall that she is pregnant, but he already knows. She asks how he knew and he says that he noticed her breasts getting bigger and the vomiting. She says that it is Mark’s baby and she says that she doesn’t know what she is going to do next. She says that her herbal tea that she has to drink. The episode ends with Marshall talking about his 1st Edition book that Abigail got him.
