Kumar VS. Kumar - Recap

The scene opens in Edison, New Jersey two weeks ago. An Indian ceremony is taking place and a man gets up and tells that they are going to see his daughter dance next. The man sees another man in the back and tells that they will take a short break first. The man’s wife tells him not today, but he says that it is his business. The man gives the other man money and walks away. The dance begins and suddenly, FBI agents come in and arrest the man and the man he gave money to. The man is Amit Kishore, M.D. He is being taken into WITSEC custody as Ashok Kumar. Present day and Stan is at his desk. Delia comes in and tells that she can tell that Mary is pregnant. Stan asks if Mary has said anything about it and says that if not, they are going to wait and see when she tells them. He says that he once made the mistake about asking if a woman was pregnant only to find that the girl was eating more. He says that they are going to allow Mary to tell them herself for now.

Later, Stan and Mary meet with Ashok and his wife. Ashok says that it is unacceptable to make their 4 member family to live in a 2 bedroom apartment. Mary tells the fancy living ended when Ashok broke the law and conspired with the Indian Mafia. Ashok is rude to Mary and tells that someone like her would never understand his culture. Mary is offended and almost tells him off, but Stan saves it. Ashok says that he wants his case to be handled by the best. U.S. Attorney Kurt Gaffney comes in and tells that he will make sure that Ashok and his family have what they need. Mary and Stan tell Ashok that he will no longer practice medicine and be referred to as Doctor for as long as he is in WITSEC. Meanwhile, Marshall entertains the children, Deepa and Vikram. Marshall realizes that Vikram is very smart and is into Robots. Marshall sees that Stan and Gaffney have a history and Stan says that it is nothing. He tells them to get Sudha, Ashok’s wife, a little bit more mainstreamed. They take her to the Salon and Marshall tells that Mary is going to have to tell Mark about the baby, but she is not going to. The hairdresser asks what they are doing and Mary tells that they are going to do something less Indian. Sudha agrees and cuts her braid. She says that she wants to get a divorce.

Marshall has Ashok come in again and tells that Sudha wants a divorce. He refuses to believe it, but when Sudah comes in with short hair and a new wardrobe, she confirms it. He tells that it is going to ruin their lives. Ashok says that he will not allow it and Sudah says that Ashok is the one who ruined their family. Gaffney comes in and tells that it is serious and the Defense can call Sudah to the stand and impugn the witness. Gaffney asks why Mary and Marshall didn’t pick up on it and Mary tells that Sudah must have plaid her cards too close to the sorry. She laughs, but Gaffney and Stan don’t. He tells that they are in the business of convictions and Mary snaps back and tells that they protect people. Marshall tells Mary that he found that Gaffney and Stan went to the same Academy and that they must be rivals or friends. Brandi calls Mary and Brandi tells her that they have to talk about the rehearsal dinner. Mary tells that she has been busy and Brandi tells that she wants to see her and Mary lies and says that she has to take another call. Peter comes over and Brandi says that Mary is avoiding her for some reason and thinks that Mary is jealous of her.

Mary meets up with Sudah and tells that she understands the dream of living the life she had and Sudah says that her marriage was arranged and it was good for a while. She tells that she has left behind those things. They go into marriage counseling with Dr. Shelly Finkle. Ashok thinks that the counseling is useless, but Shelly tells that it is needed and that they can talk to each other. They conclude and Marshall tells that Shelly is good. However, Sudah comes out and tells that she is going to get custody of the children and Ashok and her are over. Stan goes up to Marshall and Mary and asks what is on their mind. They tell that it can wait and Mary says that everyone has their secrets. Stan agrees with her and she asks if something is on his mind and he says that it can wait as well. Marshall gets a call from Vickram and hears that he has to come over now. Marshall gets to the house and hears Ashok and Sudah yelling. Marshall tells Ashok that he needs to pack a bag and come with him.

Stan goes up to Marshall later and asks for an update. Marshall tells that they are separated from now on and Stan thinks that Sudah is conspiring against Ashok. They see Mary struggle to get out of a tight space and Stan asks if it is true. Mary tells that he cracked the code and Stan tells that she is going to have to follow protocol. Mary tells that Ashok is on his way up and he comes in and tells that he needs to talk to them. He says that Sudah is a drug addict and unfit to care for the children. Mary laughs and Ashok says that he can prove it. They go to the house and find Oxicodone in the dresser and her purse. Ashok tells them that Sudah goes through a bottle of pills a week. Marshall tells that they are going to have to watch the children for a bit and Marshall realizes that the hotel room is going to have to deal for now. Mary talks to Sudah and she tells her that Marshall is watching the kids. She asks Sudah how long she has taken the drugs. She tells that she had back pain, but then realized that it took away the pain of her life. Mary realizes that Sudah knew what Ashok was doing.

Meanwhile, Marshall tells that Sudah is going to get help. Marshall suggests that Delia and Marshall can take the kids and enter Vickram into the Robot convention. Deepa tells that she will stay back with her father. At a café, Peter meets Mary and tells her that they need to talk. He sees that she is pregnant and realizes that she is ducking Brandi because of her pregnancy. He tells that she has 2 days to tell Brandi or he will be looking like mean person. He tells that he was never there. Stan and Mary talk to Gaffney about the update and Gaffney shows the defense witness list and Sudah is at the top of the list. Later, Marshall and Delia have Vickram enter the contest and Marshall sees a mysterious Indian man watching and looking around. Marshall goes up to him to find that he is just one of the parents. Marshall asks Delia where Vickram is and she tells that he is over there. However, he is not. Marshall finds him outside. Vickram shows that he got 3rd place and that he can’t go home. Mary has Sudah meet with Ashok again to tell him how she feels. When he realizes that he has hurt Sudah emotionally, he says that he is sorry and that he will do anything to make it right. She gets up and leaves. Mary tells that Ashok had her convinced.

Two days later at the trial, Stan talks to Gaffney and Gaffney tells that Stan better hope that his people did their job and Stan tells that it is on Gaffney now. Mary has Sudah see Ashok hugging his children for the first time and tells Vickram that he is proud of his 3rd place. On the stand, Sudah tells that Ashok is a good man. The Defense realizes that they have no case now that Sudah is on Ashok’s side. Mary and Marshall don’t like that Gaffney takes the glory and Stan admits that he slept with Gaffney’s ex-fiancé and that is why he has to be nice to Gaffney. Later at the WITSEC office, Deepa performs her dance that she never did finish and that evening, Mary leaves a message on Brandi’s phone that she is pregnant.
