It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Aluminum Monster vs. Fatty Magoo

Dee learns that Ingrid, a fellow loser from high school, is now slimmed down and successful. Inspired by Dee's childhood dreams of having her own clothing line, Ingrid now runs her own clothing store. Not wanting to be outdone by "Fatty Magoo," Dee designs a dress and employs Charlie to sew the prototype. This draws the attention of Dennis, who draws up his own fashion plans. Frank and Mac start a sweatshop to manufacture Dennis' designs to sell to Ingrid, whose disinterest in purchasing them is ignored.

Episode Quotes
Charlie: All right, first of all, this place is a rip off, OK? Secondly, someone should teach these people how to do a decent hem, don't you think?
Dee: Oh, are—are you unsatisfied with that hem?
Charlie: Very unsatisfied with the hem.
Dee: What do you know about hems, Charlie?
Charlie: I've been sewing my clothes back together for like almost my entire life. I think I know a thing or two about a hem, Dee.

Dee: I can't believe you stole that shirt.
Charlie: Oh, come on. I steal lots of things. You don't have to get all huffy about it.

Dee: (defending her drawing) Well, in my head it's very—it's elegant—it—it—I'm having a hard time putting it out onto the paper—
Charlie: Through your hands? Because have your hands been smashed with hammers? What is wrong with you?

Dee: You're not a winner because you used to be popular in high school, but I think you peaked.
Dennis: Peaked? Peaked, Dee? (laughs) Let me tell you something. I haven't even begun to peak. And when I do peak, you'll know. Because I'm gonna peak so hard that everybody in Philadelphia is gonna feel it.

Charlie: Look, why don't you just help me make Dennis' designs?
Dee: Because Dennis' designs are terrible.
Charlie: I enjoy them.
Dee: I know you do, Charlie. I walked in and saw you enjoying them very much this morning.
Charlie: Oh, this again. This again. I told you, I was scratching myself, Dee!
Dee: You were scratching hard and very vigorously, so...

Dee: What are you doing?
Mac: Dennis has an announcement!
Dee: Yeah, I heard that. I'm wondering what it is.
Mac: It's an announcement!
Charlie: What's up, Dennis?
Dennis: I have an announcement.
Dee: Oh, my God! What is it?

Ingrid: How did you get into my office?
Dennis: Ah, well, how does anyone get in anywhere, Ingrid? A little hard work and persistence.
Ingrid: (pointing to a dent in the door) Did you kick in my door?
Dennis: I intend to kick down a lot of doors today, Ingrid.

Mac: Charlie, sit.
Charlie: Don't tell me to sit, dude.
Mac: You want a treat? I think I got some jerky here in my— (gasps) I do have some jerky in my pocket! Do you want some?
Charlie: Mm!
Mac: Yeah?
Charlie: Yeah!
Mac: You sure? You want some?
Charlie: (leaning forward to take it with his mouth) Mm, yeah!
Mac: Wait for it. Sit. (he sits) Shake. (he shakes Mac's hand) Speak.
Charlie: Uh, I would like some jerky, please.
Mac: Good boy! (Charlie catches the jerky in his mouth) He caught it! He catches it every time.

Cultural References
Dennis: I want those dresses. Now I don't care how you do it, just make it work.

"Make it work" is a phrase frequently said by fashion expert Tim Gunn on the reality show Project Runway. He acts as the mentor to a group of contestants who must design and create a piece of clothing within the challenge parameters. The way in which Dennis says the phrase is a perfect imitation of Gunn.

Episode References
Frank: This is exactly the way I ran my sweatshops.

In "Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody's Ass," we learn that Frank went to Vietnam in 1993 to open a sweatshop.
