Episode Quotes

Mac: No, I wanna be a part of the renovation team.
Dennis: I know you do, but the thing is...
Charlie: Yeah ... you get so excited about the smashing—
Mac: Yeah!
Charlie: And then you make it competitive...
Dennis: You turn it into a competition.
Mac: That's bullshit, because I am a better smasher than you guys! I should be on the head of the smashing team! You wanna have a smash off?
Charlie: A smash off?!
Dennis: You can't even help yourself, can you?

Charlie: The more I look at this place, the nicer I think it is, you know? It's a nice place.
Dennis: Oh, yeah. No, it's a very charming, charming place. (throws some dishes on the ground)
Charlie: Whoa! What are you doing dude?
Dennis: What do you mean?
Charlie: Why are you smashing stuff?
Dennis: I'm smashing st—dude, it's important that we get rid of anything that will remind the Juarez family of their old country.
Charlie: Oh!
Dennis: Bro, they're Americans now, and Americans don't hold on to the past.

Charlie: I'm sorry, bro, but I get very passionate about Sears.
Dennis: No, I—
Charlie: I mean Extreme Home Make—I mean, wha—uh—wha—?
Dennis: Helping people.
Charlie: Helping people!

Charlie: So, you know, we got ourselves a little Mexican girl here, and I'm thinking, well, what does a little Mexican girl love more than anything else in the world?
Dennis: Mm ... tacos.
Charlie: Tacos, buddy. So why not make for her a taco bed? You know what I mean?
Dennis: (agreeably) OK...
Charlie: She gets to, like, be in a taco every day. So, OK, I got yellow sheets, that's cheese, green, guacamole, uh, red, a little pillow for salsa, and I got these cute little brown PJs so that she gets to feel like ground meat while she's sleeping.
Dennis: Ah, she's the ground meat in the middle.
Charlie: She's the ground meat in the middle!
Dennis: I like that, man. That's a good idea.

Store Clerk: That'll be $3212.11.
Dennis: OK, we're just gonna go ahead and put all this on the Extreme Home Makeover account.

Mac: The first step to becoming an American: get a credit card.
Dennis: Oh, yeah, man, we need this guy to build up copious amounts of debt. That is the best way for him to build up his credit. We're doing him a favor here.

Charlie: So did the neighborhood rob us?

Mac: Now, while we wait, I was thinking we expose them to some good old-fashioned American cinema.
Dee: Oh.
Mac: Apocalypto. They can learn about how their ancestors used to be savages until Mel Gibson and the Catholics came in and saved everybody.
Dee: Aw!

Episode Title; Plot: The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition; home renovation for a family in need

This episode parodies the reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Each episode features an ill-fated family that gets its home completely restored. It is hosted by carpenter Ty Pennington, who loves being as obnoxious as possible and yelling through a bullhorn. Two phrases that he shouts in nearly every episode are, "Good morning [surname] family!" when first meeting the family of the week and "Move that bus!" in response to the bus that blocks the finished house for a surprise reveal. The show is also sponsored by Sears, hence Charlie's rant about Sears products later in the episode.

Frank: What the hell's a vision board?
Dennis: Oh, it's The Secret.
Mac: Yeah, The Secret is a self-help book that Dee read and explained to us. It's about how you can get whatever you want without having to work for it.

The Secret is a popular book by Rhonda Byrne based on the Law of Attraction. It focuses on visualization and, as seen in this episode, creating vision boards to achieve your goals and manifest your desires.

Mac: (referring to his vision board) Yeah, and I'm gonna impregnate Danica Patrick while getting drunk in the Sahara desert on a dune buggy.

Danica Patrick is a race car driver who competed in the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the IndyCar Series.

Mac: Apocalypto. They can learn about how their ancestors used to be savages until Mel Gibson and the Catholics came in and saved everybody.

Apocalypto is a film written and directed by Mel Gibson that tells the story of the end of the Mayan civilization.

Episode References

Frank: Dennis, do you know that she is inheriting my house?
Dee: Of course he knows it. He's the one who lost the house by letting you into it.

In "Dennis and Dee's Mom Is Dead," Mrs. Reynolds left nothing in her will to Dee and Frank but left her mansion to Dennis, with one condition: Frank was not allowed to step foot in the house. Unfortunately, Frank was caught on the property, so Dennis lost ownership.
