In season one, viewers get a good feel for the four main characters, Charlie, Mac, Dennis, and Dee. The gang takes on such topical affairs as racism, abortion, and gun control. Charlie lusts after the coffee shop waitress, but Dennis ends up sleeping with her, unbeknown to Charlie. Mac has a brief relationship with Carmen, a hot transsexual. Dee also has a couple of brief beaus, including a criminal and a high school student. The season ends with the introduction of the McPolye brothers, Ryan and Liam. They lie that their gym teacher molested them when they were in school, but Charlie turns them in to the police.

Note that this season's first two episodes aired Thursdays at 10:30 PM. The last five aired Tuesdays at 11:00 PM.
