i liked this episode. the first time hawkins got on line, was that page in russian? i wish i had taped this episode so i could watch it again. oh and another thing, when he was looking at what looked to be profiles of threats or something, who was the last one that he looked at? maybe i'm wrong, but it looked like Jake.
man i'm not sure about what hawkins is anymore. my opinion must have changed a half a dozen times during the episode.
i would crap my pants... twice if i saw rockets in the sky like that. i'm totally have no idea what's going on... and i love it. |

Yes it was Russian.
Yes that looked like Jake, with what a Peruvian passport?
I was on my way over to work wondering what this is. Here is a theory.
Hawkins and Vic is a good guy, because they are helpful. Vic even went back to Denver to help people risking his own life. Both worked for US Government, possibly special operations, maybe CIA or something, maybe even a Red Team. They (US Gov) found out about the plot but couldn't do anything so they had these guys sent out to the smaller cities. Is it possible that Hawkins was the one that gave the orders to launch the ICBMs?
The only thing that throws that theory off is the Russian website, but if it was a news website it could be that he was getting information or something like that.
At first the episode wasn't very interesting to me, a fire what not, thought about it and realized its only been a few days. So this is common stuff if you're starting rebuild/recover. Although I don't think its going to last for long and then just when you thought it was winding down with a briefing from the government.... Vooom! Rockets launch out of their tubes!! Where are they going? |

There were some pretty serious problems with "suspension of disbelief" in this episode, using totally invalid IP addresses and so forth. At least use private IP's, but I digress.
No way everyone's laptop would display the Emergency Alert System screen either... that's limited to TV and Radio.. shouldn't get it on Satellite either, but i'll give you that it's possible given the circumstances.
Why has no-one thought of turning on the XM in their vehicle? Lots of GM vehicles on the show, and almost all newer model GM cars have an XM.
Also, did the kids playing in the fountain not bother anyone else? Wouldnt' the water still be risky from fallout?
I'm beginning to think that both Hawkins and Jake are on the same team, even if they don't know it yet. The thing that gets me is every time you say to yourself "HA! There he (Hawkins) goes, he's evil and he's about to show himself!" The guy comes up with some perfectly logical reasoning for his actions... confusing, but good for the storyline. I just hope they don't over use it, because eventually it's going to be like crying wolf. No one will anticipate getting answers because they overused the suspense.
Jake's character didn't interest me as much until this episode. Whatever his past is, I think it's probably something legit since his mom knows about it and isn't acting suspicious of him.
I'm not sure if the website was Russian or Turkish. Could be either.
And for the missles, why did we wait so long to retaliate? (Assuming we are retalliating against someone).
Possible spoiler below..... highlight to read.
Anyone considered the possibility that our military is trying to overthrow the gov't? Food for thought, huh?
Have fun! I can't wait to see where this is headed! |

I think its 2 days after the attack possibly 3 days.
I think the radiation in the water is an issue now that you mention it. I don't believe there was any radiation in the water otherwise those people in town would have caught it. They really need a technical advisor on this for the nuclear/fallout type stuff its kind of buggin me. Not only that but the town of Jericho wouldn't even be able to see the rocky mountains let alone denver if it were real. Plus I watched the episode where the girl gets nabbed by the criminals, logically the location she was in didn't make sense if she was heading towards Wichita.
Anyway back on subject. As far as the nuke response I would say that if it were a terrorist style attack, we would not know exactly who to retaliate on. We could guess but we wouldn't be 100% so it could be the president or whoever is incharge needed to consult other world leaders, as well as figure out who they think did it. Also we know that China is obviously intact so its only the US that has been affect up until this point.
Woo just read your spoiler! That would explain a whole lot now wouldn't it? I didn't even think of that. Duh! Argh now I want more answers

Ok, how do you call someone who use a blackdoor access to the Emergency Broadcast Network that give him access to an Internet Security Companie in Russia, then use that webpage to get into the DoD database to look for "flagged passports" (suspected terrorist ties) and get Jake picture?
Haxxor!
The theory that the military are behind the attack to take over the government seems unlikely because if you want to take control of the power, the last thing you want to do is destroy the cities where the ppl are, because if you succed in taking control, you still have to deal with millions of insurgents, no good...
Im still in favor of a sect or right wing extremist movment trying to "fight the Man", this by taking control of the launch code of the missile base and using them to destroy all the major cities where the gov buildings are.
Also it really seems to me that Jake is someone who left that kind of organization (after completing his training..) for morale reasons, when he realized they were going to apply a "Blank Slate" scenario as in: "kill as many as you can, rebuild a better societie with what's remains".

Now I'm totally sucked in by this show. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't watch much TV.
I've watched the episode twice now and the conspiracy theorist that takes up .1% of me is saying that the delayed launch of the missles in counterattack is mighty fishy. Why such a delay??? If the explosions were caused by incoming warheads, it stands to reason that the U.S. would have launched a counterstrike immediately. I like this show a lot in that it has me thinking about the next episode before the credits roll.
CBS looks to have a big winner here. Good storyline and good characters. Plus some of the actresses sure are easy on the eyes. |

Well, where is it writen the 2 missiles were a counterattack? the way i see it, the governement try to get control of the situtation (phone, broadcast, etc..) , so the terrorists who now control the missile fire them at the source of the broadcast. I bet in the nexts episodes, the TV will turn blank again and the power will be cut.

To be honest, I'm slowly losing intrest in this show. It's to slow-paced for me. This episode seemed a little exaggerated to me to. I would like to see just what the heck is going on though, so I'm going to keep watching for now. |

@ Ddraig: Are you sure it was in russian. The hole page or only some posts?
The website Robert Hawkins opened in his garden contained posts in turkish! Does anyone of you have a screenshot of the page, I could try and translate it. |
